DCS 2.5.6 AND VPC AIRFIELD EQUIPMENT

The update to 2.5.6 broke nearly all static object mods, not just the vpc mod.

Same, I can see the VPC objects on the Mission Editor preview, but when running the mission DCS crashes a few seconds after it starts. No useful messages on the Log:

Right now, 2.5.6 is VERY, VERY slow to load. When it finally came up, it rebooted when I adjusted the volume level. Loading through the Updater is even slower - it lags on the sign-in.

Hmm working fine today - as far as the things I pointed out above. The only thing I did was to delete shader cache. Not sure if that did the trick, but if so, good.

how do I revert back to DCS 2.5.5?

 

 

Revert is a short term solution, tough if most MP Servers stay on 2.5.5 it would be workable for a while, until the Supercarrier cames along (you wouldn't be able to use it if you dont update DCS).

Well, belay that one! Now I can't get the software to boot all the way up. It hangs at 10% on the initial splash screen. I waited 5 minutes and killed it. So here is the troubleshooting I did:

 

- I erased the shader cache again. No change.

- I had Voice Attack and TrackIR 5 running - Stopped VA - no change.

- Stopped TrackIR - no change.

- Stopped both - no change.

- Tried starting from Updater and then directly from app - no change

- Shut down my PC and booted up again - no change

 

Right now, the software is unusable for me. Switching over to live release for now.

The items of the VPC Airfield are working in 2.5.6 if you choose them with the button "vehicles" the "fortifications" instead of the "statics" button, but they're disappearing in the mission, when you're far of them.

It's a voice attack issue. Closed it and ran repair, now I'm in.

how delete shader cache?

 

I did it through the DCS Updater app. The advanced update options tab, right side button to "delete pre-compiled shaders".

I have VPC Airfield Equipment Mod installed and can see objects in Mission Editor but not when I fly the mission. I have re-installed the mod and repaired DCS - but still doesn't work. Can someone please help?

Same here :

Objects from Military aircraft mod and US NAVY equipment mod work fine.

The objects (except from tab ground vehicles) from the VPC aircraft can be placed in the editor but won't show up in game.

Anybody found a solution for this ?

It does not work anymore. Errors out with DX11 compile error, and other mods also no longer work. Plus older missions cannot even be loaded into mission editor in 2.5.6. Those need to be cleaned out in 2.5.5

 

I will stay on the 2.5.5 version only because of this mod.

For me it's the best one in DCS !

Well I said it the last time this happened and I’ll say it again. It sure would be nice if ED communicated with the mod community about upcoming changes. A lot of these mods add to the game more than some of what ED includes. Take the 476th range mod. Without that mod the NTTR in the Nevada map would be completely inaccurate.

 

Unfortunately ED silently appears to be even less supportive of the mod community now than in the past.

They heard. Statics remain broken as was said right at the begining.

 

Statics are vital for performance because they have next to no AI, arent detected and you can have thousands of them. That's the issue, that and... anyone that was using statics to create lots of interesting visuals is torpedoed.

Well, I did some limited testing and it appears that statics now require you to use the newer method of scripting, as in creating a database lua file rather than the old "GT" method. I don't know if that makes sense to everyone here but I could elaborate on this if needed.

I know it's a lot of work, but can we hope an update of your great mod ?

 

Honestly, I don't know. Perhaps I will fix it in small parts, gradually adding some objects. But I can't say when I will do it. And also I have to solve some problems with the changes which were in the update
