[REPORTED] EXPAND issues

When pressing the EXP button on the SA page, the BRA reading breaks. When EXP is pressed and a target is moved to the center of the display, its position at the moment of pressing EXP becomes the new center of reference (0,0) for the BRA reading, so BRA shows 0nm away for them. Returns back to normal after EXP is deactivated.

If other targets are visible on the EXP display, their BRA changes according to their position from the "new center" of the display. In short, it seems that EXP doesn't account for the offset in the display coordinates and treats the centered target's position as the new center of reference.

Also, pressing EXP messes up the Radar display, sometimes it looks like it's zooming in some way, sometimes targets move around, sometimes they go out of the scope and you can't see them.

In the attached screenshot, the targets are about 50nm away. Notice the wrong BRA indication on the SA page versus the correct BRA indication on the Radar page (both cursors were placed above the same group of targets), as well as the targets all having moved to the bottom of the radar page and are zoomed in, like on the SA page.

Open Beta 2.5.5.34108. Tested with and without mods, no difference even after running a repair. PG map.

Track attached (no mods used in the track).

Something else I noticed now, if EXP is selected while the SA page is de-centered with DCNTR, it seems like the BRA (0,0) point is placed at the bottom center of the display and not at the current position of the focused target.

  • ED Team

I am having troubles replicating in our dev build right now, so do me a favour, check again after next weeks Open Beta update, and let me know if you still see the issue, there are some fixes to EXPAND coming through, so its possible this was fixed along with those.

If you don't mind, report back after if you do or don't see the issue still at that time.

Checked again today, with OB 2.5.5.34644. The radar issue seems to be resolved .

But now, EXP doesn't display any TUC data on the bottom left corner and if EXP is used when DCNTR is active, instead of focusing on the target, it places it at the bottom of the display. The first issue makes it impossible to know distance and accurate bearing to the target, while in EXP mode.

Screenshots attached.
