Even during a high speed run, WITHOUT aircraft, you never hear the ships engines. Below the waterline you can only feel it. Hope that makes sense. DO it or Don't, but don't cry about it. HiFlyer Posted October 15, 2020 Share Posted October 15, 2020 My experience is that you hear almost nothing than a/c noise during flt ops on the carrier deck. The wind also blows possible sounds away. Loudspeaker sound and the bell are coming through. Below the deck you can clearly hear the arresting cable on landings, how they are "re-winded" and the catapult. Without flt ops you can hear much more different noises.
