SDsc0rch
john chesire, tomcat pilot, recounts an unofficial and unapproved many-vs-many furball between early model F-14s and -15s dogfight of the decade - pilot's account while everyone was trading sea stories afterward in the o'club, a reporter lurking in the shadows listened in and based on what he overheard, published an article... here's the article enjoy! 8) 1 i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Hummingbird
Great read! As expected the F-15's immediately went into the vertical to try and beat the F-14 as they couldn't match them in the turns :)
Top Jockey
Can't remember the EM diagram, but pretty sure the F-15 rates the hell out of the F-14. Slow speed would be a different matter. Indeed. Although I've always had a preference for the Tomcat, until some years ago I believed the Eagle might be a little superior in dogfighting... however reports seam to indicate otherwise. The TF-30 engines were an handicap, however the Tomcat aerodinamics were a big help. Hangar FC3 | F-14A/B | F-16C | F/A-18C | MiG-21bis | Mirage 2000C ... ... Hummingbird
Can't remember the EM diagram, but pretty sure the F-15 rates the hell out of the F-14. Slow speed would be a different matter. In terms of turn rate the F-14 is superior all the way to Mach 0.74, after which point the F-15 starts to take over. On top the F-14 features a better ITR across the board. In short you would not want to turn fight a F-14 in a F-15, instead you would want to take the fight into the vertical where the F-15's superior climb rate would take hold.
