Default For those of us that just can't wait for the F-5E to come out ...

Here's another option

It's even a trainer version, so there's another seat for the wife and/or girlfriend.

I suspect that the purchase price isn't the killer here - it's probably the maintenance, operation costs, and engine overhaul costs that are the real money pit.

Or for the really inpatient:
AJS-37 Viggen
F-14A Tomcat
F-14B Tomcat
F-5E TigerII
F/A-18C
P-40F
SA342 Gazelle

Sadly the F-14s and F/A-18 are currently out of stock, but you can always blow your money on the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier while you wait! (And you guys thought $1.8 million was expensive!)

Well atleast you can stock up one some of these badboys.

http://purplemilkbox.com/market/prod...&cPath=8_10_24

Who knows maby you can use them for your Fourth of July Celebrations (or whenever you have a need for fireworks)

Also you hurt me =(.

For a second there i thought the Viggen for sale was for real =(

There are actually some Real F-5s for sale.

Mostly F-5As or CF-5s.

Here is a F-5A

http://www.planecheck.com/index.asp?...rop%20F-5&id=0

Or here if you are interesting in F-5s F-15s or ADV Tornados you are free to join this bidding war.

http://s9.invisionfree.com/21c/ar/t5671.htm

On a more serious note though the Saudis are selling their F-5Es so that might be the best place for somone with enough money xD they come AGM-65 Capable!!!

This. When it comes to aircraft, especially this kind... The general rule is that if the purchase price is off-putting, you probably couldn't afford to keep it on the ground (forget flying it) for long

Even if you have the financial wherewithal, you still need 1000 hrs TT/500 PIC to get a type rating. I guess that's not a problem if you are Harrison Ford or the like.

Yep - and you'd be best served to get you IFR rating, multi-engine rating, etc.

Probably simplest to get a full commercial pilots license, and rack up lots and lots of hours in as many different air-frames as you can.

At as guesstimate, it would probably be ~$400K to get you trained up to fly this bird.

So - ~$400K to get trained up/experienced, 1.8M for the aircraft itself, and $4K-$10K an hour to run it.

So ... $15M all in for 0 to 1,000 hours on this bird?

L-39 is much more attainable. You still need the time, but a/c cost is about $180k in the US. No AB though
