DaveRindner
What is going on in Georgia 2.5 map? It looks horrible, and it is slow. The trees kill it. If trees are off it is still possible to crash into them. Textures for trees and in general are over bright. Forget differed shading, that is one horrible technology, that drops DCS into single digit FPS. 2.5 is suppoused to improvement over 1.5.8, but the performance has dropped ,

ED Team BIGNEWY Posted March 9, 2018 ED Team Share Posted March 9, 2018 Slow? you mean your FPS is lower? I am not seeing that personally my frames are higher, and I like what has been done by ED. Please add your system specification to your post and settings screenshot we may be able to help. Also if you have not already make sure you have removed all unofficial modifications, run a cleanup and repair, and rename your dcs.openbeta folder in saved games so DCS can create a new one. Please show some screenshot examples of your issues, it may be a problem only you are seeing or it could just be your personal preference at play, either way we are happy to take a look at it. firmek
Its not for gaming. Its good for 3D modeling etc.. but NOT for gaming :/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk This is not really correct. Yes, Quadro are targetted towards different market but they work perfectly fine with the games. Just the dolar per FPS is not that impressive. The OP problem is that his card is K4000 - kepler based, like GeForce 600 series. Seems to be comparable with GeForce 650-660. Its just an old card. The only one issue with Quadro cards, especially mobile version installed in the laptops is that quite often they come with a non NVidia drivers. Just make sure to use a latest NVidia drivers and Quadro should work fine with games. DaveRindner
NTTR is nice fast is smooth on my rig. But Georgia performance went way down, and trees, look bad. Deffered shading is just bad all around. I don't get what is the point of DS. It is so heavy. Trees implementation is bad. Even with 100% trees and visibility range to high, they grow out of ground way to close to the aircraft.

Yurgon
But Georgia performance went way down, and trees, look bad. Deffered shading is just bad all around. Runs fine for me, looks stunningly beautiful and the trees are a huge reason for the great looks. The point of 2.5 seems to print a smile on my face every single time I fly there. :) Not sure what your problem is. When you look at screenshots and videos, do the visuals look like what you see in-game (except for the performance problems)?

Zyll
A simple question for the group here: if my system is right around the minimum spec for 2.5, would I expect a drop in performance by going from 1.5.8 to 2.5, or an improvement in performance? I assumed the first case, but the comments here surprised me and now I'm not sure. Thanks, Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk

Just try it out. All you need is some disk space, 40+ GB of download and a bit of time. 2.5 OpenBeta is still free of charge and comes with Caucasus terrain, Su-25T, TF-51D and all the modules you already own. DaveRindner
OK, I think I see the issue. Without deferred shading, tree opacity maps are not being used. The trees appear brighter then terrain and appear as growing out of the ground per LOD. Trees also grow out in Differed Shading engine, but in DS the opacity map masks the visual artifact present in non-DS graphics mode. THe visibility range needs to be on high or better, otherwise even with DS, viewer sees trees grow and scale up. Oi'vey. Now is a bad time to purchase new system , as GPU prices have gone way up. 1080Ti is more expensive then Quadro P4000, nearly $1300. TitanXP Collector's edition is 1600. Workstation card price point. Unfortunately, I need Quadro for my home station. Realflow, and Maya's VP2 don't play nice with GTX. All sorts of issues. My incoming box has P4000 speced out. Go on Amazon, Newegg, TigerDirect, even ebay. Older model GPU , Maxwell based quadros, and 980 series boards, are priced higher or almost as MSRP , when those boards were introduced. Lowly GTX 1070Ti is tad lower then P4000. These prices are insanely high.
