Well I'm sure one day they will start doing other blocks or variants of same airframe. What are they going to do after all recent airframes come out to DCS? They will have to make those old or newer models in future.

After the F-16 ED just have to make the F-4, and then I wont be asking for more. Maybe they don't even have to make more A/C. I don't think I will ever fly anything else than the Viper anymore.

For me it will be a western attack help, the AH-64D with the longbow radar. My second would be the AH-1Z I think was the other. The light attack helo.. tho the Russian Mi-24p will be fun..

Anyways this is about the viper, it's been my personal favorite for so long, seeing it done well in DCS World is going to be great.

As a couple others have said. With many other modules I like that they are getting them feature complete or close to done before releasing.. but I think doing the F-16 like they are currently doing the FA-18 will be great. The example above about how they deployed in the real world like that with updated over the years like we get over the months.. I like..

Not to OT, but i personally would prefer the AH1W over the AH1Z. Not necessarily because its more probable due to being a retired helicopter, but because it has a more versatile AGM loadout, although i can see why full on glass pits of the Zulu are desirable.

unlike the newer Zulu The Whiskey can use both TOW 2 series of missiles as well as the laser based Hellfire Missiles.

In most cases may as well have hellfire but as this paper writen by a USMC officer states its honestly a trade off in capability even in the real world.

https://apps.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a510486.pdf

TOWs can attack targets through smoke screen wheras hellfires do have longer stand off range, and faster travel time to intended target but thier laser guidance is disrupted by Smoke.

This is important because modern potential adversary tanks like the T90 have laser warning systems ( shotra) which can automatically trigger Smoke grenades for cover if programmed, thus interupting laser guidance making a laser guided hellfire go stupid.

with a TOW missile, yes it has to be optically guided by the gunner, has less range, and travels slower, but VIA FLIR the gunner can still continue to see Tanks IR signature, and continue to guide TOW's.

Sure a Ah64D would be something nasty with that Longbow radar and radar guided Hellfires, but Id also say that either Ah1W or AH1Z are better options for DCS since they would be better able to operate in contested environment, They can arm Aim9L or M sidewinder missiles as self defense against enemy aircraft.

Remember the incoming of Mi-24, F-4E and AH-1F previously.

Ah....( pun not intended) so it is indeed an AH1F not AH1S

Can we safely say that its time for the Viper to have its own section here on the ED forums? I know with the Discord groups guys are already talking squadrons that are being claimed and there is a pretty continuous conversation going on from tactics, the down and dirty of different models etc. Might be time to get the channel created and get posts organized... Just a thought.. .
