Questions with hosting

My Brother and I fly MP online. He is able to host and I connect using his IP address. When I attempt to host, and he connect using my IP address, when I get done loading the map everything is frozen - controls do not work, no movement from other ai aircraft etc., and he gets the message 'server offline'. Is there any way to remedy this?

Thanks in advance,

KPK

Does it work before he connects?

Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Could it be a port forwarding issue?

I have 16 GB RAM; Problem arises prior to connection - he cannot connect. I am able to see in cockpit in VR and can look around but controls are frozen and all objects are frozen.

There might be two unrelated issues causing trouble here:

- Everything is frozen: Have you unpaused the game? The mission starts paused in MP.

- Friend can't connect: Might be a port forwarding issue. Have you opened the respective ports in your router? I don't know outof my head what default ports are necessary, but it's described in the game manual.

You can change if the mission starts paused by going into "Advanced" settings while setting up server. The three options at the bottom of the Advanced tab are:- (screenshot below)

Resume manual - You have to unpause the sim manually

Resume on load - Automatically unpauses the sim after mission loads

Resume with clients - Unpauses as a client joins the server

I use "Resume on load" as it's the simplest if just hosting with friends. "Resume with clients" is good for dedi servers so missions don't run for ages with nobody in them.

You either need UPNP enabled in your router or forward port 10308 on both TCP and UDP to be able to host successfully. Nobody will be able to join otherwise.
