The Black Shark cockpit looks awesome and I notice there is some nice new rotor chop sounds. When I land, along with the usual XX landed here message I get "main:" over on the top left and "Ststic1" over on the top right.

I think it looks absolutely great, except for one thing that I immediately noticed, which are clearly visible static reflections on the glass panes. I'd really like to encourage ED to stop adding those as they kill the whole immersion sitting in a 6DOF cockpit, especially in VR as those look like they have been painted right onto the glass. This was OK back in the pre-6DOF days, but nowadays it's clearly a no-go. I wish at least there was an option to disable those reflections altogether. I'm pretty sure the team are working on real reflections however (I mean, that's what the new graphics option is there for), but as an interim solution I'd highly suggest letting us decide whether we want those static reflections or not.

Seeing that "Static1" at the top right as well, could be the mission in accordance to some internal changes made by ED though.

Regarding performance - on a screen I had around 80fps sitting at Senaki which initially was 40ish when I installed my 1080. So over the course that is a big plus. On the other hoof, I now had just 22fps through the bank flying there in the Shark (F2 as well, so it's not the new pit, literally a quarter of what I get on the screen), but at least it was completely stutter free for me and didn't feel as low as it was said by the engine probably just because it was pretty stable at a constant rate. In 2.5.5 I mostly had rock solid 45fps with the same settings. I'll have to try more situations and modules to see where I am at.

VR is still totally unplayable with a 30% performance drop from 2.5.5. It could have worked if only we had gotten the 50% VR performance boost that was promised several months ago...

"Totally unplayable" is a strange statement to make, as it generally works just fine in VR (for me). I tested several quick action missions since 2.5.6 (as well as after today's patch), and they feel as smooth as before (keeping SSLR off).

I haven't tried MP in ages, maybe it's different there?

The lighting in the new Black Shark cockpit is fantastic! The warm sunlight reflections on the material is great.

And it got even better, when turning on the night lights in the Black Shark: simply wow!, how much depth there is in detail.

Hope ED will work on and patch the key bindings and mapping, like more mapping to axes for analogue controls and more options to switches for the usual HOTAS systems. It´s a tiny quality of life feature to provide a wide range of mapping possibilities, but hardly missed, when there no more options to bind the functions on to a variety of hardware.

Thanks ED for this free cockpit update - love it!

The new Ka-50 cockpit and external model is amazing... so is the new lighting engine.

I dont think the external model has actually been altered yet. Just the pit. Which i probably why the underside AC light still illuminates the top of the nose.

Not that I can tell you for certain since i cant get any external view in Shark. At least of itself. No F2, F3 or F4. I can see the map and other units using the other F keys........but then i cant get back into the cockpit...so no F1 either. seems to be shark issue only (and probably local to me)

And my harrier's cockpit still has stuttering and clunky SSLR/Global cockpit illumiation-esque reflections ruining my view when im low over shallow water/coastlines....so i fly higher.

...its all good - its a beta and theres always something to enjoy in the game.

any solution?

Have you tried removing the Saved Games/DCS.openbeta folder? Backup first. Even just as a test? (you will lose your settings). I don't recall whether uninstalling removes this folder completely, and there may be settings in there which may be causing the issue.

I'm also seeing this with the F18, but only for the first mission I load. It goes away on subsequent missions.

Why don't you report these bugs on the proper sub-forum? along with more useful data to pinpoint the bug? the Campaign has 10 missions, in which one did you detect the problem? .. the ideal would be to attach a track of the mission.

I'm seeing "Main:" in the top left, and "Static1" in the top right all the time, both airborne and on the ground in the F-18.

I've had this in the Shark, then I tried another flight (mission reloaded) with the F-16 and it went away. So I can concur with this statement:

I'm also seeing this with the F18, but only for the first mission I load. It goes away on subsequent missions.

But I have to revise my take on the performance. Same 22ish fps in the Viper, and lots of little stutters, the faster I went, the more I had them. Flying at M 1.7 up high was almost like a Powerpoint while taking off was pretty smooth. Looks to me like there's still some issue out there with loading things as the load increases with speed. Also, I had some issue with programs crashing in the background, includig my Oculus S/W which killed the rendering of DCS. Since I usually get that just when loading up a second map in the same session, I sense some memory issues here. Having no pagefile, but 32GB of RAM (I know some pagefile would help, but usually I can run DCS without issues and actually it helps seeing issues like this one now). Fun thing even though I couldn't manage to get the image back was that the sound still worked and the sim even reacted to inputs, so I could pull some Gs and hear the respective sounds that come up as AoA gains and such. Had to shoot DCS down with taskkill /f/im though, so there's absolutely no useful logs.

The lighting however is absolutely gorgeous. Started at 1900, but didn't make it into the night, but it was awesome to see Sunset Shimmer into my cockpit. Felt very real. It was good before, but I think this got improved as well.

Glad i am not the only one see the Main and Static 1 at the top (using Oculus Rift S) and it appears on all planes I have tried (F18, F14 and F5 so far).

Also my FPS has tanked - was normally ok with 40fps with ASW working but I am lucky to get mid 20's at the moment :(

When you exit to debrief and hit "Fly Again" it doesn't show anymore. You can see "Main:" in front of the ATC message but they both disappear after couple of seconds.

I have smooth experience in VR with HP reverb. Things are optimised? Placebo effect?. Since 2.5.6 I have to OC my ring I7 5o 5000mhz and gpu 15%. With this is enough to reach the 2.5.5 fps. The stability is better?? Let's see.

Only suffer lost of fps in Caucasus in late afternoon with cover sky and rain. This cause horrible fps numbers and VR become unplayable.
