F-86 "Super Sabre" Weapons Upgrade for Vietnam Missions!

Recommended Posts

How hard do you think it would be to rig post-war weapons up for the P-51/F-51? I tried a while ago bit it was beyond me.
The systems of the aircraft lend a lot to it's utility. Since the F 86 had some decent utility in its pylon system, I was able to do a lot with it. The P 51 may be a lot tougher. A year or so ago I attempted to mod weapons on the Mustang so it could play the part of a Sky Raider in some Vietnam missions, and I remember the effort didn't go well! What weapons did you have in mind?

I was thinking of a non-turboprop Cavalier Mustang from the late 1950s - maybe LAU pods on a hardpoint, or a few Mk-81s... but it didn't accept them when I tried adding them (I think it crashed when I actually tried starting the mission). So probably not worth your time :)

"Yeah, and though I work in the valley of Death, I will fear no Evil. For where there is one, there is always three. I preparest my aircraft to receive the Iron that will be delivered in the presence of my enemies. Thy ALCM and JDAM they comfort me. Power was given unto the aircrew to make peace upon the world by way of the sword. And when the call went out, Behold the "Sword of Stealth". And his name was Death. And Hell followed him. For the day of wrath has come and no mercy shall be given."
