Hello everyone, I wanted to have some clarification on the setting object of the thread, in short the speech Delay/Inst. is it only valid for rockets, bombs or both?

And for Delay, how long is a delayed burst compared to the Inst. Setting?

Thank you

Tip: the delay switch is on the rocket control panel, so.... only pertains to rockets.

You should never be dropping bombs from so low, that a delay should make any difference to you as the pilot.

With rockets, it's another story. You are firing the rockets ahead of your flight path, and it is a viable tactic to be coming in low to hit a target, and unless you are careful, you can easily fly right into your own blast zone.

I'm not sure of the delay itself, but it is really very short, like 1/10 of a second or less.

But IMHO the real issue is that you should never be flying right into and over the enemy, especially your target. Don't fire your rockets at less than about 200 yards out, and that's damn close as it is, and then peal off immediately to the side, while remaining as low as possible and jinking left and right until you are out of range of any ground fire you might expect, generally about 1500 - 2000 yards. Don't jink violently. You just want to spoil the aim of and AA fire which might be coming your way, and veering off even 30 feet can do that.

When you hit the wrong button on take-off
