Server's not down. It was running on the previous DCS version while you guys have updated your DCS before the server has.

Should be ok now

Server going great again had some good craic last night nice good balance of red/blue. Highlight for me being a chap flying the Harrier at Vaziani doing an impromptu mini display there, man he could really fly that bird with precision and what a sound it makes when landing. Just purchased the half-price Viggen and Mig-15 to have more options for cold war server ops.

Is tacview going to be enabled again to review flights?

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that one! I stated in earlier posts that I had to switch to the bloody dedicated servers of DCS. Tried to implement Tacview real quick and realised I'd have to look into it once again. Totally forgot that. Thanks for the reminder and I'll see what I can do ASAP.

It's always been like that. When the Mirage came out... well, I had that one on the Cold War server for a while, but then took it out. The numbers went down but the Mirage hype didn't last for that long so the numbers went right back up. The F-18 really nailed it. Dried the Cold War server out. The F-14 had a lesser impact, but still it did. Both combined over the last months did have their impact, but it was still ok. 10-15 players every night were still online. In fact, as someone who loves doing some air to ground stuff I prefer the server with a few players in it. 20 max maybe :music_whistling:

But hey! Not saying players should stay away. Glad to see people enjoying the server :smilewink:

The server is not shown on the MP list for some reason, but no worries, it's up! Just connect via IP. I'll try and figure out what's going on.

EDIT:

Problem fixed!

Operation: Two Towns

Situation:

Red operates from Kutaisi Airbase, a Road Base and FARP Yunga.
Blue operates from Tbilisi-Lochini, a Road Base and FARP London.

The towns of Agara (Red) and Kareli (Blue) are currently controlled by ground units of both coalitions.
T-55's hold Agara, while M60A3 Pattons hold the town of Kareli.
Both tank groups are supported by artillery installations marked on the F10 map.
Destroying the enemy's ground units and holding both towns helps establishing a line of defence.
This makes it vital for both coalitions to advance and capture the enemy's town with destroying his tanks being the main objective.

NOTE:
Teamwork is the key! Use SRS and get on comms.

briefing image.jpg

RED Objectives:

MiG's, L-39's and Su-25's:

Bullseye, Waypoint-1, is the enemy's town of Kareli held by enemy tanks, type M60A3.
5 km west of Kareli is the town of Agara where our T-55's are holding position. Furthermore, we have an artillery installation west of bulls, while the enemy has his further east.

* Check out the F10 map for markers *

We need to destroy the enemy's tanks and artillery units before they get to ours to gain control over the two towns. This is vital for establishing a line of defence once we secure the area.
In addition, feel free to engage the enemy's FARP to cripple his helicopters' operations.

MiG's should focus mainly on providing CAP, but can perform CAS and strike missions if needed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mi-24's:

- Provide CAS at waypoint-1, Kareli Town.
- Strike enemy artillery units at waypoint-2.
- Provide escort for Mi-8's if needed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mi-8's:

You can deploy units anywhere you want to provide anti-air assistance for our tanks and/or artillery units. However, if a GCI operator is available make sure you contact him and offer your assistance in deploying whatever is needed.

Mi-8's -> Picking up crates:
Bring up your radio menu, select F10 for CTLD and then whatever type of crates you want to pick up.

*** You can only pick up one crate at a time ***

For picking up a crate, maintain hover over it for 5 seconds while keeping an altitude of at least 7.5 meters and a maximum altitude of 15 meters.

To unpack a crate, make sure you're at least 3 km away from the FARP/airbase you started at.

A total of 18 x crates can be deployed. Note that 1 infantry squad counts as 1 crate and has 1 x MANPAD included.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Combined Arms:

The 2 cmdr slots are for players controlling ground units while being on SRS with each other and other players to coordinate their attacks.
You MUST be on SRS as a cmdr operator!
You can use the JTAC slot to drive a ground unit. However, that requires you being on comms with cmdr operators to avoid confusion and/or causing problems to their attacks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frequencies:

EWR / GCI: 124 MHz - Channel 0 for MiG-21's and L-39's. Channel 2 for MiG-19's. Mi-24's R-863 - Channel 0

Seems like the server freezes when a message about enemy aircraft over Keralis appears.

Yeah, looks like there's something in the script. I'll re-test the mission. Currently Open Range is online.

Missions like Two Towns is exactly why we need the Su-17/22 in the game. Fast in, drop ordnance, fast out, avoid enemy CAP if at all possible, send R-60s towards any enemy fighter that disagrees.

Yeah! I like the scenario of tanks fighting each other with helicopters bringing in more units, strikers providing CAS and fighters/interceptors providing CAP/escort. A true battle scene. Very likely for a Cold War type of scenario. Which is why the Russians built up tp 100,000 T-55's back in the day! Yes, a hunderd thousand T-55's!

The mission Two Towns has been fixed. A bloody "{" is all that was missing in the .lua script :smilewink:

Mission will go online again tonight for you guys to heavily test it. Would like to have some guys doing helicopters stuff. Deploying tanks and troops to reinforce their ground units, etc.

There were no donators in June so nothing to post in that regard.

Hate to keep reminding you all, but hosting the server costs me around 70 USD's a month. That's like a module every month. However, your donations really help reducing the burden :smilewink:

Thanks to all who have donated so far! Very appreciated!

Not for me, might need a LotATC server start.

Not sure how to include that to the bloody DCS dedicated servers. As you might know I had to start running the server through that! I'll ask around.
