GAF JA-113 Jagdgeschwader 71

Yes, you are most definitely correct! This is very early WIP. Just to let DonJosh know that I'm actually working on it. The painted areas will not look like metal in the final version :-). I will not create the Spec file until they painted areas are complete...So expect the paint to look like paint in the final rendition. :-)

Thanks guys! Much appreciated. There may be some minor historic inaccuracies, due to the fact that GAF operated Canadair Mk.6's so some of the placard locations will be slightly off due to the bump mapping and panel lines of The F model. But other than that I think for the most part it will be a good fit!

I've done an image with a better JA-113 markings, hope can help improve this skin.

For convenience, here you can find a resized png: should be in the right size to fit the F-86 texture, let me know if you need the original PSD file.

Thank you Automan! I will incorporate this. Here's a few screens of a first pass with introducing a Spec into the texture. Paint now looks like paint....I'll be refining as I go. The tail chevrons need more precise alignment, ignore that for now. I also need to add a few more things, most noteably the black windscreen and canopy rail.

DonJosh, do you mean the interiors are black? I have plans already to add the black around the forward exterior and canopy rail as in the photo by automan above. But, is the interior a black interior?

Great, I'm posting here a shot with some corrections you can make

A reference photo for emblem and size of code markings

sraketx.jpg

About the JG71 emblem, there are several applied to this unit, the only photo of JA-113 doesn't put in light what exactly is carrying.

I've found early photo of JA-108 and JA-112 with the emblem without white background and windrose.

About the frame color, maybe it's in Yellow, but b&w images don't help too much:megalol:

In the JA-111 after restoration, it's in Yellow

I've attacked here a layered PSD with different emblem type: you can choose frame color, emblem style early/later, windrose on/off, background on/off.

It's late here... I'm going to bed, bye;)

Yes! Thank you. I was actually already editing the thickness and also the size of the emblem. I've noticed that the triangles are not all the same but vary per aircraft in shape and location. Also my red paint is a little too red and needs to be a bit more orange? Any one know the actual color value of the red?

Cheers,

Should be the same red of the German flag:

Ok, I've made the white outlines thicker, added the interior intake white line, increased the "Richtoffen" emblem size. Now, I just need to adjust the JA-113 size and fix the alignment issues on the tail flash markings...and incorporate those changes into the SPEC, which will be toned down a little bit.

Now, the question is this...do you want the nose paint to be ON TOP of the painel lines and rivets, or do you want to see the rivets. Note in Autonmans picture above you can't see teh rivets or panel lines, as the paint is sealing the seams and providing a nice smooth layer.

I think the best option is nose paint to be ON TOP of the panel lines and rivets, the normal map will do the rest
