sobe
Backy 51 One time I was on a passenger plane that had some form of engine trouble that the mechanics couldn't locate. As I was sitting in first class, I walked up to the pilot and said that as I stayed at a HI express motel last night, perhaps I could help. It took him a few seconds to catch on. Vampyre
Thanks ! May I ask (searched in a dictionary but didn't find anything useful) what "gouge" means please ? Gouge is a slang term we use in military aviation speak (possibly others as well) for information, both written and verbal, that has been gathered from multiple sources and unofficially condensed into more easily digestible form for operational usage. Think of it as the Cliff Notes Version. Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills. If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck! "If at first you don't succeed, Carrier Landings are not for you!"

Think of it as the Cliff Notes Version. Well said! Another definition might describe the action whenever I attempt to refuel in the Harrier or Hornet … emphasis on attempt. I have gouged my share of baskets, for sure! :D Stay tuned as an expanded and with a somewhat more user-friendly format gouge/guide is coming soon ...
