Greyman
The Oculus Rift does a very good job. ;)
slicker55
Thanks for your suggestion but I'm referring to a set of 'headphones' with a 'microphone' built in.... my rather old Turtle Beech X41's don't seem to be working too good with handling speech recognition for VAICOM... i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
Greyman
I was being a little mischievous, as a Rift would be a rather expensive option, but it does have a perfectly good microphone built in, that I use with VAICOM PRO, and it would also add something irresistible in the visuals department, as a "bonus" :)
Roller25
I just bought the Sennheiser PC373D. Awesome headphones! Highly recommend.

LOL but thought it best to clarify what I'm looking for... I have a triple monitor setup + touchscreen for Helios so just after a suitable headset to work reliably with VAICOM/Voice Attack I believe the microphone on some headsets are designed specially for voice recognition? My current headphones do work but the voice commands 'confidence rate' is below par I'm not particularly looking for wireless, like the ones I already have, because mine have proved to be problematic and the TrackIR (pro trackclip) is wired anyway! Hoping for some recommendations soon :helpsmilie: i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
slicker55
I just bought the Sennheiser PC373D. Awesome headphones! Highly recommend. Thanks, I know that brand from old and would expect top notch performance but with a price tag to match... I hope I don't have to dig so deep into my wallet - lets see what less expensive alternatives are out there i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
jasonbirder
I'm pretty sure most decent headsets will do the trick (wired usually better than wireless pound for pound for mic pick-up) I use a Corsair Hyper X Cloud 2 which does the trick with various Voice Attack plug-ins for DCS and Elite Dangerous so should fit the bill... slicker55
thanks Jason... those are more in line with what I want to pay but I would push the envelope if the extra cost can be justified... ... waiting to drawer on the expanse of first-hand knowledge here rather than rely on sales hype i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
slicker55
Good news.. Last night I replaced the wiring to my Turtle Beech X41 RF headset, re-ran Windows 10 and VAICOM speech recognition training. As a result, the 'confidence level' is significantly improved and is now, on average, in the mid-high 90% range with only a few commands not getting recognised. Therefore, no longer any need to replace the X41's from that point of view. The audio quality of the speakers in the headphones always was, and still is, very impressive. However, X41's inherently suffer occasional crackling - an issue which is well documented and believed to be caused by radio interference. I will have to look into this issue further - any suggestions welcome! Other X41 owners may be interested to know... X41's were originally designed for the Xbox 360 and reports suggest they cannot be used on computers without the use of a special adapter lead. However, and just for the record, mine are simply connected to my computer using an optical cable (audio) and 1/8" - 1/4" jack cable (mic) i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
