Updated P-51D?

I've heard that ED plans on an updated P-51D, with new and improved visuals, but also being an upgraded version with more manifold pressure and even a g-suit. Is this really on the roadmap, and if it is where can I find a forum post about it.

Ok, I've read through that entire thread and the only "confirmed" thing we will be getting is the proper "European" configuration of the plane. Everything else is a big MAYBE.

Can someone enlighten me on how the european configuration Mustang D differs from what we currently have in the game?

Only different IFF control box on right side without UncleDog controls in cockpit.

And only one VHF antenna mast in front of vertical stabilizer and no VHF antenna mast under fuselage between main landing gears.

I believe that there is something mentioned about the overheating and damage model of the guns also. I know that it's not in the forum thread that I offered up, but I have read it and I'm kind of certain that it was mentioned by ED.

Update: I have to stand corrected on this. I have read through several threads where changes to the P-51 have been discussed and other than the thread I posted for you, any and all talk of change to any noticeable degree presents itself as pure speculation on behalf of the community at large. I do not find any place where ED confirms such changes to be fact.

So I'm guessing that we'll have to wait and see if ED puts something out on it down the road.

With their fingers in so many pies, perhaps they just haven't gotten around to it yet. With all the clamoring for "NEW PLANEZ NAO", it may have been placed on the back burner. :chef:

Well even if we "only" get a G suit, as well as new damage modeling this will go a long way towards making the Mustang more competitive vs the german fighters. The 6x .50 cals will be much more powerful I imagine, and with Normandy and bomber escort missions at altitude, the Mustang will be quite a handful.

I for one am expecting nothing more, and will be plenty happy with that.

We all have our way to view this. My view is Ed needs to make the planes i've already bought as accurate as possible before i'll spend any more money on new planes, or even Normandy for that matter.
