Why Dubai? How ED decides on which map to make.

Yes I agree Vietnam could definitely be awesome, it has everything from sea to land areas, jungle, cities and could integrate many of the modules. Would look very different than any map we have so far.

And as a twist for non-'Nam era pilots, they could very easily include the South China Sea islands as a modern-day hotspot area.

The "Persian gulf" coming from the old "Strait of Hormuz" map project. That was centred on the 2011-2012 Strait of Hormuz dispute, never was planned a "all Persian gulf" map.

I don't get your argument about the "All of Persian Gulf map" modelization. Bahreïn is within the limits of the actual map. I was not arguing about the fact that the island had to be populated with cities, airports and ports, but that the entire island is missing. They could have put the island even without texture to give some sense of orientation, but no the entire kingdom is simply gone.

This is really odd to erase an entire country (just an island mind you) from a region as important as this one. I'd love to know the reason why they chose this path.

Look at this map and the localisation of the Bahreïn Patriot site. Is this a strech to think they could have put a "piece of land" at this place even with a generic texture to allow us to place SAM systems ?

The "real" map was expanded from the initial limits, and the initial map never reach Bahreïn.

all zones outside that limit has low resolution zones. Missing Bahrein island as missing others zones and island the west and north as Kharg Zork, Bubiyan and some UAE islands. That zones has not important to the map context but never was planned detail that zones.

Has the same situation with the outside Normandy peninsula lack of detail, No sea and missing detail on north Arizona on NTTR map and east and south coast of black sea and missing the eas t Caspian sea on Caucasus.

Have your ever flown on this map to make such deceiving claim ? Your frantic interventions towards anyone willing to make this game better is alarming. You're spreading false information and you're hurting the game despite you're trying to "protect" it.

Here's a screenshot I just made outside your "limit". Do you feel the terrain is low resolution ? Again, I was not asking for a full resolution representation of Bahrein, just a landmass with stragetegic and geopolitic value in the region.

Thank you for your reply NineLine. I know there is very little chance that even a mesh would be added to the current map ; after all Wags warned us that the current version was final.

If someday, by chance, a mesh could only be applied, at least we could use it to place the local A2/AD systems and enhance further our immersion. I do realize it must be an insignificant player base looking after this kind of detail.

It is better me get on silence for a long time. That level of personal attacks has very disturbing.

Is Eagle Dynamics predicting a large scale conflict in that area in the near future?

 

Kind of wish they worked on a Korean war map for the mig and saber and possibly a Vietnam map for the Huey/mig21 and upcoming phantom.

If you look at the past 70 years, biggest conflicts are in this (greater) area:

USA + Iraq

USA + Iran

USA + Afghanistan

Saudis + Iran

Israel + Egypt + Lebanon + Iran + Syria

1. Iraq isn't on the map

2. The US never fought Iran (save for the whole Desert1 thing)

3. AFG not on map

4. Saudis never fought Iran

5. Israel isn't anywhere near this map.

Otherwise historically, yes the ME has had plenty of conflict, mainly Arab/israeli wars, and then 2 US invasions of Iraq, and the iran/iraq war. Along with various hypothetical conflicts you mention. Might as well throw in Soviets vs Iran too, that could be a fun Cold war one.

Then again a 2nd korean war has been a possibility since the Cease Fire for the last 70 years too.

I think you misunderstood SD. He explained that, outside the main map borders are low resolution, which is true and nothing wrong with this. Simply you can not model whole world in high res
