We are proud to announce the winners of the 2017 New Year's Never Leave your Wingman Screenshot Contest!

First of all we would like to thank you all for your submissions. You can believe us, it was no easy choice for us and we are greatful and proud of all of your submissions. In the end we had to make a choice though, and it came down to this. Congratulations to the winner and hopefully better luck for everybody else the next time! We wish you all safe flying 2017!

Please note that while the winners are all displaying Mig21s this was not decisive for our choices. We thank you all for paying tribute to the 21 and LNS with your submissions. But the selection of winners was based purely on set up, composition, quality and arrangement of the picture, and of course our personal taste, not on the aircraft represented within.

The prizes for the winners are also listed at the end.

1. Place Winner: "Leave your flight and die alone" - by PicksKing / Wingman: Luxhamp

Congratulations to the Winner and his Wingman! We hope you enjoy both your Viggens and NTTR!

Jury's Note: The haze over the vast and open Nevada desert. The fight that is about to unfold, just before the merge. The growling thunder of the powerful jet engines in the air. The aggressors turning for the merge. The wingmen breaking tactical. And above all: the teamwork. The thought behind it: A training situation as it might have occured just like that over Nevada. This screenshot took us right back into history and the daring achievements of those pilots who have been flying the MiGs over Nevada to provide training to the airforce. But it also makes you wonder: what does #4 do? Is it intentional, is he preparing a daring surprise for the Agressors? Or will he learn his lesson--- of never leaving his wingmen? Everything in this picture drags you right in, makes you dream and wanna join the fight!

2. Place Winner: "Because he can" - by DerNeueMensch / Wingman: Der_Fauster

attachment.php?attachmentid=155368&d=1484771714

Congratulations to the Winner!

Jury's Note: Remember those scanner videos from NTTR? Here you have a huge aircraft fan, who even goes as far as to climb the mountain range to be close and even closer to the jets he loves. It was a long climb, dragging all the camera equipment up those rocks under the desert sun. A whole day went past, the sun is setting. The man stands on the edge and breathes the fresh evening air. A cold breeze reminds him of the night that he is going to spend here between the snakes, the coyotes and the bushes. Too bad only, it took him so long. Too bad he didnt see any aircraft yet. Ah, what gives, he thinks, a nice shot of the setting sun over Vegas... and then, when he lifts his camera infront of him, it happens: a dream comes true, his luckiest day yet! And very well worth the ordeal. Now the coyotes can come... Congratulations!

3. Place Winner: "The Groom Lake Glint" - by Torso / Wingman: Jamie22: Jamie of the *NOB* clan

Congratulations to the Winner!

Jury's Note: The more modern your apartment, the better it will fit. It is a simple yet remarkable set up. There is a point of each building, that reaches in the sky, where its tip melts into a gleaming silver, a flash, a reflection of the sun: it is the point of dreams. This reflection is thrown back to the ground here - as if the whole sky has been melt on the back of this aircraft. But also "we chose this because your girl said she liked it so much, so we all should get it printed and framed. Simple shot but she liked the contrast and angular lines the runway provided and the gradient from light to dark from the skid marks so: figure why not was what we thought as well. She generally does you right, though she said she wished it had a red nose. And you should listen to her! We also feel it really shows the subtle detail of the texture work in both the plane itself and the runways surface. The minute detail is just amazing when studied closely." biggrin.gif You, Sir, have an amazing girlfriend and maybe even a touch for contemporary art... Congratulations!

Honorable Mention, 4th Place: "Thunder Past" - by Raven 1-1 | Jamison / Wingman: Raven 5-2 | Sniffle

attachment.php?attachmentid=155417&d=1484833132

Jury's Note: The first open house ever recorded at Nellis dates back to 1952. And here we are on Veterans day to cherish the service of our Soldiers. A massive crowd has gathered to enjoy the most beautiful and most powerful displays of aircraft. It is a historic day, an anniversary and the Thunderbirds brought one of their old favourites: The Northrop F-5. We see her being admired by the crowd, standing there and flying past, a knife edge pass, belly up towards us. This screenshot is arranged remarkably well, although not noticable at first it provides an incredible depth of view, very subtle, but very important for the success of this picture. The lighting is chosen well, so well in fact, that combined with angle, depth and setting it is almost photorealistic. Very beautiful! Congratulations!

Honorable Mention, 5th Place: "Have Doughnut" - by aemvee / Wingman: Bansee

attachment.php?attachmentid=154761&d=1483650691

Jury's Note: This is a picture that has so much immersion for the viewer as it cleverly pulls his view away from the evening scenery dipped in copper light, right towards the aircraft, again and again, your eyes are almost being turned away from the many details displayed in this screenshot: the guard fence around the airport, the first streetlights and the lush green vegetation in the city, that falling terrain and the concealed parks before the industrial sites further back. But les us not spoil everything here. Simply lean back and immerse yourself into the virtual life of Nevada. Congratulations!

Honorable Mention, 6th Place: "Lets Make it Six" - by Topper / Wingman: Buzz

attachment.php?attachmentid=154795&d=1483717167

Jury's Note: We have chosen it for that what we cherish most: precision and remarkable skill in flying. And not only that. It is a clear picture, it does not need a certain lighting or blur or bloom. It stands strong with the fact that not only you, but also your wingmen came together to display their passion in flight for yet another wingman. And after all, that is all this contest was about. To fly with your friends, to do something with your friends and for your friends. Pls imagine us all standing before you and saluting you for this incredibly well flown display and beautiful picture. Congratulations!
