JimMack Memorial Trophy 2016

Hello all,

On 2014, golfsierra2 took the initiative and started the JimMack Memorial Trophy "event".

The trophy is dedicated to Jim Mackonochie, a highly important member of the Eagle Dynamics community, who passed away on April 23rd 2013. (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=104617)

I didn't unfortunately have the chance to meet or talk to him so I would like to quote the words of golfsierra's 2015 post:

Two years ago on April 23rd, 2013, our friend Jim Mackonochie -

known as JimMack - passed away.

A few years ago, I was lucky to meet him and he appeared to me a true

flight sim enthusiast, a bright, humorous guy one likes to chat to.

This trophy is dedicated to his life work, so we might remember him for

the years to come. The trophy should go to somebody, who - in the spirit

of JimMack - either has supported the community in an outstanding way or

has shown outstanding fairness and dedication towards other players.

Following golfsierra's suggestion a nominations thread is announced yearly in ED forum in order to pass the trophy to a new member of the community, who actively contributes to the promotion and advancement of

the sim community.

Mustang was the winner for 2014 and myself (373vFS_Greg) for 2015.

Mustang received the trophy from golfsierra2 and thus it's my turn now to hand out the trophy to the winner for 2016.

For this a new poll will be announced soon for nominees of 2016.

Candidates can be nominated in this thread within two weeks from now (namely until March 31st, 2016) including name (nick) and a short statement, why this person should get the trophy.

Thank you all in advance and stay tuned because you might be the next winner!

UPDATE

As they are 11, I am forced to use an external poll as the forum supports maximum 10 options.

Please use the following link to vote for the 2016 winner:

I would like to nominate for his huge contribution to the blue flag campaign from the buddyspike team 373VFS_Crash not only for his programming skills that made this campaign possible and many homemade tools, not even for his awesome video editing skills, but for his "deadly" silence throughout the turmoils of this event. "Silent but violent" :)

It would be a posthumous award but Jim "blooze" Mudgitt comes to mind.

With scripting DCS can come to life. I am not so much into MIST, which is an impressive achievement by it self worth a trophy. But the dedication and results through the years with .lua and the endless patience as our main gatekeeper to communicate to ED makes my community Throphy nominee: Grimes.

  • 2 weeks later...

I would like to nominate Vyrtuoz for his long dedication to giving us all the impressive application Tacview for many many years! His dedication to update and renew the application is just impressive. He is always reviewing user input on enhancing the application and is obviously a very good programmer as we hardly see any bugs in Tacview at all. Tacview is the most important application to use for a training instructor when assessing a new pilot. Tacview is simply unmatched when it comes to reviewing our fantastic events! As far as I remember Tacview was already here when I started flying the A-10A in 2006/2007. We just can’t bypass Vyrtuoz in this nomination. :)

I would like to nominate Stuka for all his NTTR work. The countless hours he has spent researching and building not only the most realistic mission but the google earth plugin is amazing. Not to mention all the time he spends helping ED as a member of the tester's team.

HUGE vote for grimes.... C'mon folks - It crushed me that he did not win last year. Think about it... so many of the contributions to our community would hardly have come to fruition without MIST. Arguably many of the other nominee's work is directly benefiting from MIST and the functionality it brings to DCS mission development.

I think he is not winning because so few fully understand what MIST has done for mission development. :(

A close second would be Chuck = his guides have done plenty to make the sim accessible and likely prevented many customers from inevitable rage quits in the face of foreign switchology and hundreds of pages of manuals.....

I voted for Grimes, without MIST I wouldn't have got in to scripting on DCS and there would be no CTLD.

Thanks Grimes!

Scripts: Complete Transport And Logistics Deployment - CTLD / CTLD Examples - Lots of example of how to use CTLD

CSAR Script - Downed Pilot Rescue / Dedicated Server Script - Automatically launch DCS Multiplayer server at startup

Range Scoring Script - Get scores and counts hits on targets for gunnery or bombs / SimpleSlotBlock - Multiplayer dynamic Slot Blocking Script

Projects: DCS-SimpleRadio Standalone - DCS Radio Integration for All Aircraft - NO TeamSpeak Required! :)
