Convoys not moving in MP.

Hi guys,

 

So I made this mission where we had our Ka-50s to escort a convoy. The convoy could move or stop anytime using a Group Stop / Group Resume command through the radio menu.

Working fine in SP but when playing MP, only the server side could see the convoy moving/stopping. The rest of the clients could see the convoy at its initial position, but it was just not moving at all, no matter how many time the server side was sending the Group resume command.

Is it a sync bug on the new version of DCS, an MP limitation of the command STOP/RESUME? Should I use Group IA OFF/ON instead?

Prior to this Friday's patch I had no known issues with ground units moving either through scripting or CA commands. Definitely a little troubling, thanks for your reply...I'm swamped at work all week so maybe this will be patched by the time I have time to test, with any luck. :lol:

We're you guys running on a dedicated server PC or hosting locally? Our group encountered this issue running on a dedi.

Hey Bad, been exploring this a little more (much to my frustration :lol: ) as I'm building another MP mission with CAS elements.

I've noticed that my clients could see movement in a late activated group with no waypoints (a roadblock) that did not have the VISIBLE BEFORE START option checked. When fired on, the group dispersed and players were able to see their new position.

I did 100% have the issue with a late activated, visible before start convoy with waypoints; I saw them trucking along, for everyone else they stayed put.

Have to experiment with a late activated, non-visible before start group with waypoints but curious if you've found any more concrete conditions that trigger this bug.

I am glad that finally someone have the same problem than me!

Just tried again with the latest patch and nothing changed regarding this MP problem. I haven't tried with group AI ON and OFF but the advantage of group stop/resume is that they stop moving but they are still shooting unlike the AI Off/on.

I'll test your suggestion to uncheck visible before start. It's gonna be weird to see vehicles popping out of nowhere, but if this can help. But I really need to be able to have waypoints.

I've been using GROUP STOP/RESUME with AI TASK PUSH for setting ROE and invisibility to AI as a workaround...definitely time consuming and easy to make little mistakes but it's saved my bacon so far until this gets figured out.

 

Going to try to just make a miz with a bunch of stuff in a row with different conditions and see if I can get to the bottom of this next time I have a client handy. Will post back if I find anything useful out.

Read with interest. I have a mission that used Visible Before Start, and Labels are Optional. I turned off the Visible Before Start a long time ago because when the group gets Activated its labels didn't turn on. I tested it over the past two days and this ^^^ problem is still here, so I'm turning off the Visible again. I don't use the AI ON/OFF or Start/Resume on this group; your Radio Stop Start stuff reminded me of ol' Blooze - I gave him some assistance on a feature like that, RIP Blooze.
