mytai01
Air Traffic Control need to be improved vastly. Even the simple statements given in the game aren't quite correct. (I know cause I am a controller). The other thing is Command and Control. AWACS isn't the only Command and Control in in air battle. Control and Reporting Centers (CRC) are ground based and very important. Oh, BTW, they have their own frequencies! IT is has been said that the ATC is being remade... When it'll be released we don't know. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. mytai01
What would be a correct approach procedure ATC-wise? Any links to technical documents? FAAO 7110.65 is the US Bible for ATC. Here is the link: http://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Order/JO_7110.65V.pdf Ask me if you have any questions about what is in this FAA order. mytai01
The US military uses the above manual (FAAO 7110.65) as their primary ATC guidance with very, very, little deviation with the military services. This manual does show service specific differences where they do occur. The most noticeable difference between FAA controllers and military controllers would be that military controllers are required to tell aircraft the wind with all take off and landing clearances and issue a wheels down check with all landing clearances (even on fix landing gear aircraft and skid equipped helicopters) . Wind would be stated as, "WIND (DEGREES IN 10 DEGREE INCREMENT) AT (SPEED IN KNOTS) GUST (SPEED IN KNOTS)" EX.-"WIND, TREE SIX ZERO AT ONE TWO, GUST TWO ZERO." If no gust exist then that part is just dropped after the initial wind speed. All numbers are spoken as, "ZE-RO, WUN, TOO, TREE, FOW-ER, FIFE, SIX, SEV-EN, AIT, NIN-ER." The wheels check is said like this, "CHECK WHEELS DOWN." A complete military landing clearance would go something like this, "MAITAI ONE ONE FLIGHT, CHECK WHEELS DOWN, WIND TREE SIX ZERO AT ONE EIGHT GUST TWO SIX, RUNWAY ONE EIGHT, CLEARED TO LAND." A full military takeoff clearance for a flight of two or more F-15's would go like this, "MAITAI ONE ONE FLIGHT, WIND ZERO EIGHT ZERO AT SEVEN, RUNWAY TWO SIX LEFT, CLEARED FOR TAKE-OFF, CHANGE TO DEPARTURE." All single seat fighter/attack types are instructed to change to departure frequency before take-off roll. The tower has no contact after that unless they have an override capability on departure frequency. ekg
Oh, BTW, they have their own frequencies! These frequencies they can be jammed right? Would make for a neat mission (find the jammer and kill him).
