An Eye for an Eye v0.9- Single player/2 player for F-15C

Recommended Posts

Hey feefifofum - you're spot on in that I had accidentally downloaded the 1.2 mission files instead of the 1.5 mission files - clearly a bit excited at the time. My brother and I are still getting tonnes of replay value from these , so thanks so much for your hard work in providing the DCS community these missions without charge.

Finally found the time to complete the campaign.

Really a lot of fun missions, I prefer this one over the stock campaign.

There were also a few very unexpected moments, like

the Bird strike in the A-10 or strafing the Migs trying to Take-Off:)

2 Missions were quite frustating for me.

In Mission 8 I did not realize that I had to hurry and sooner or later the Sam Site was up and it was game over!

Mission 9 was also pretty hard. Most of the timess I tried it, I did not have any missles left after fighting the second group. So I edited the mission and decreased the number of enemy aircrafts.:P Event then, I had to land and rearm.

Altogether a great campaign and the voice acting is just awesome;)

Looking forward to more of your stuff, anything planned right now?

Well hello again, Comes!

Thanks for the compliments. :)

And yeah, mission 11 is probably my favorite of the entire campaign. Major spoilers below:

Good job keeping the Hog alive to the bird strike, those MiGs are slippery...the first of many things that can potentially go wrong. You may notice if you run this again that even if our Hog is shot down by that first flight of interceptors, the mission proceeds (with some different radio messages from Overlord.)

You have to be on top of EVERYTHING or Tusk will be captured. The Abkhazian helo beats US SAR if you don't locate them and shoot them quickly; the second flight of MiGs will kill the backup Warthog if you don't intercept them. If the backup Warthog dies, you're left trying to locate troop transports with Mk1 Eyeball which is no easy task under those lighting conditions. Hostile troop transports will reach Tusk before Rescue One does if Hog 3 gets shot down.

There are a bunch of fun radio messages as each of these enemy groups gets closer to our downed pilot. Each one can potentially reach the pilot first and pick him up. If the player shoots the enemy groups after they have picked up our downed pilot, a "double mission failure" of sorts is triggered.

The MiGs use a complicated trigger system to determine if any have gotten off the ground before the player shuts the runway down (assuming that they do)

So many ways to fail!

Assuming you mean Mission 9 and Mission 10:

Regarding the SAM site in Mission 9....warned you in the mission description on the download page. ;) I think there might be some mention that the site could go online at any minute in the briefing as well, but it's been a while since I wrote it.

In Mission 10, the key is to coordinate your efforts with the other packages to engage the Russians that scramble. Sure, you can scream into the first group at M1.5 and kill them all yourself, but the key is to pace yourself and let the AI do some of the work. Follow Colt or Chevy to the merge and you might have better luck making it on one load of missiles. Uzi should be capable of killing the third group almost completely on their own, even if you're very low on ordnance by the time you reach WP5/6.

And to answer your final question, Baltic Dragon and I are collaborating on another full length F-15 campaign which we hope to release as DLC later this year.

On the free tip, you'll find a multiplayer mission I released recently a page or two back in this forum. You can play the first half of this as a CAP only mission, though things are going to go very badly on the ground, which will prevent the second half of the mission from happening.

Did not have any problems in the 11th mission in protecting the Hog.

I completed it on second try. In my first try i crashed in one of the enemy choppers, it was so dark.:music_whistling:

Yes, I was probably talking about missions 9 and 10.

Your new project sounds great, I will definitely be getting this.

I flew the first mission and intercepted Baramia's jet, but nothing happened. I couldn't order the pilot to land, and I didn't receive orders to shoot down the jet.

I passed waypoint 1 and 2, but found Baramia's jet before I got to WP 3. Did I miss a trigger?

Great. I just downloaded your campaign and what I saw was that it was very challenging with AI set to excellent.

Could you think about making an easy Version too (for your DLC and / or an eye for an eye, because I think I won't survive and maybe there are more like me out there.

Is there an easy way for me to edit the enemy AI myself by a Change all comand with an Editor?

Hey oho, the AI is set to be challenging but the scenarios don't put you in too many super-tough spots. Don't give up before you try! :)

Because many of the scenarios in this campaign depend on AI engaging each other, changing the skill settings of enemy fighters can drastically effect how things play out. As a result, I'm a little hesitant to make these kinds of modifications "officially."

If desired, you can open the missions in the Mission Editor, click the unit list icon (looks like three shapes on the left toolbar) and filter the unit list down to Red airplanes; there you can set the difficulty for red air units to whatever you'd like but I can't promise things will work as expected if you make major changes to the missions. Unfortunately, there is no 'change all' function and you will need to set difficulties for individual units. Obviously you can expose yourself to some spoilers this way, too, if you see a group named "AMBUSH MIGS" or something like that. ;)

In the first mission, he is actually restricted to not release weapons because otherwise he was getting a little enthusiastic and shooting things down before being given permission by command, which fails the mission.

Not sure what your proficiency level with the F-15 is, but also remember that just because you see something on your RADAR doesn't necessarily mean it's hostile; friendly contacts will appear as dots, hostile contacts will appear as dashes. If your wingman doesn't detect any hostile targets, he'll reply "negative."

Don't forget to tell him flight-》 RADAR on also. Can't shoot what he can't see, and our F-15 doesn't share sensor information like the Flanker does. :)

Thanks for the Radar tipp.

Now AI fights (and gets shot downsad.gif).

Everything's great except what I don't like is the darthvader voiceover, this kills a Little bit the immergence for me. smilewink.gif

Which Mission do you consider to be the hardest? Perhaps I would then edit them a turn down the enemy AI music_whistling.gif

Do you have an ETA of your DLC-campaign?

Yeah I hear you...was my first set of missions and when there's only 1 guy doing the voices some compromise has to be made.

I've tried to get another person to re-record all the Overlord lines but it ended up fizzling it before it happened...it's a fair bit of work trying to do 12 ops at once as you might imagine.

As far as challenging engagements go..I'd say probably mission 7 or 8. Both of those put you in pretty bad situations with limited AI assistance. Rely on the advantages the AIM-120 gives you though and it should be manageable.

I don't have any official release info on the DLC, but should be Soon ;)

You tell me ;)

The main places you may experience issues are mission 4, where flavor messages are heavily dependent on the movement of ground forces; and mission 6/9/11 where you must escort friendly strike packages (new forests may obscure target areas.)

It's a little rough around the edges being my first attempt at a campaign from many moons ago, but if you come across anything totally borked leave a message here and I'll take a look when able.
