VR Shaders mod for better VR experience

Recommended Posts

After yesterday's hotfix and these shaders, I was getting issues with ghosting and objects failing to render. Loading extremely long, despite the sim already booting a few times.

I ended up deleting the shader mod and everything worked well again. So maybe some incompatibility?

It always takes a long time to rebuild shader files, which si what you are supposed to do when you install this mod. the more modules you have, the longer it takes.

After a shader update or a dcs update i always boot up a quick flight in all of my maps to recompile shaders while im doing other things, then when i want to play, its not a long wait when i go into vr

Does the shader mod work with 49798?

I really like the MSAA mask feature and NVG adjustments. While the notes say MSAA mask is in the native game.. i'm not finding any performance improvements from using it and I cant see any visual differences.

I read the install instructions and have been using this mod for a while now. What I experienced, was something new.

It almost always takes me about a half hour to recompile shaders after deleting them. Its even worse if you try to do it online, especially in a large server. Thats been my experience for the last 6 months or so...

so bear in mind you don't have to rename/delete the terrains directory anymore so it should be considerably faster

In case someone had already renamed the terrain "dcs" dirs (emptying them and for example renaming to "dcs.old"), should we need to rename them back to "dcs" or it's still fine like that, with current shaders?

And also, the day I'd like to stop using the shaders, what about these terrains "dcs" folders?

Thanks

yes you can rename them from *.old... ,

if you wanted to stop using them from an earlier version then yes you would have to rename them to stop using the mod successfully, luckily you wont need to do that because you can rename them now and use the mod. the uninstall instructions are just remove the files you applied with Modman or OVGME or JGSME or repair your DCS Installation

Ok!

So, to go back one day to no-shaders, it will be enough to disable the mod by JGSME and/or do a repair.

And to keep going with shaders normally, I could potentially already rename back the dcs.old folders (empty) to dcs, right?

Thank you again

sure you can... name them back.. to dcs from dcs.old, or repair if you deleted them

Hi all,

again thanks to @Kegetys for this mod, i believe i have a working mod for both Clear Water and IC pass. attached here.

For IC pass to work, you have to let the shaders build once, it will fail the IC pass, exit the game and reload and it should pass.

Some changes you make in system settings, may also trigger an IC Pass fail, again exit the game and reload and it should work (no i don't know why that's the case) and my guess is it will likely work with the native mod as well.

This does not seem to Pass IC but does provide Clear water. use the version here for an IC pass version

YMMV.

Hi Speed.. I don't really care about IC. But would you happen to know to make the water a little clearer?

:) there isn't anymore, Kegetys mentioned it when he released the latest patch ! It used to serve the function of forcing a shader rebuild using the correct files, now it doesnt need to do that

Hold on, we don't need to delete fxo and metashaders any longer? Or am I missing something?

Also, it seems DCS nowdays correctly picks up changes in the metashaders and deleting/renaming the metashader directiores for terrain is no longer necessary so I removed that part from the install instructions.

nope he said...

Tried again the most recent version, still won't work for me. Takes ages to load, probably because of recompiling the shaders, reminded me of the very first 256 version unmodded. And then, again, I don't get to see my own A/C, not even the cockpit, but I'm "in place" and can get the labels of cockpit elements to show up.
