F10 Map function lost

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Since the last stable update, 2.5.4 I've lost all Map functions flying both the Spitfire and Mustang

in the Normandy Map.

Please note that I have run the ED Repair function several times.

Any help please.

Hi Pikey

It's simple really, I'm running 2.5.4. I've flown both the Spitfire and the Mustang in the Normandy

Map and the F10 key or the binding on the controller, just do nothing.

I've run the repair option several times, but still nothing.

Thanks for your reply.

So, to clarify, when you hit the F10 key, you're not seeing the F10 map, but you just stay in the cockpit, correct?

First of all, when you go to the input settings and hit F10, does it jump to the appropriate option and highlight the row "F10 map view" (or something of that kind)? If not, locate that view and try to re-assign the F10 key.

If it did highlight the proper row, I think it's possible to disallow the F10 map view altogether. This can be enforced in the mission options. You should check your game options and also try other missions.

Of course it would also help if you could give us more info, like which mission you're flying (upload it here if it's a self built mission) or which server you're on.

And double check that the radio menu isn't open; if it is, all F-keys will be "intercepted" by the radio menu.

Finally, if you've found the solution in the meantime, please post it here to help others who might have the same problem in the future.

Thanks very much for your help.

I,m just flying instant action for this check.

I've also discovered that the other F Keys don't work as well.

I'm using a wireless keyboard and I thought that maybe it was going

intermittent, so I bought a new keyboard and still the same problem.

The options menu is to all map functions.

I will double check that the radio is off and I will create a simple mission

to fly and see what happens.

I have to say that I've been flying DCS for about a year now and I've not

had this problem before.

Any further help would be much appreciated as I'm just getting ready for

fw190 a8. I always fly in the stable mode.

Thanks

Okay, the Instant Action missions don't usually enforce these view options, so that should not be the problem.

But if you could tell us which Instant Action mission for which aircraft in which theater, we could double check just to be sure.

I would also double check these options and make sure they're all checked:

Options -> Misc. -> Player External Views

Options -> Misc. -> Spectator External Views

Options -> Misc. -> F10 AWACS View

Options -> Misc. -> F11 Free Camera

In addition, some programs intercept certain key-presses. For instance, I believe Track IR uses F10 to pause/unpause tracking, and does not let that keypress "pass through" to other applications, so it might be worth a shot to fire up DCS with as few external programs running as possible and see if the problem persists.

F10 Map

Hi Yurgon, thanks for the help / feedback.

I checked the 4 options you indicated and unchecked everything else.

I also removed all bindings except pitch, roll, rudder and Throttle and trims.

I ran DCS on it's own with no trackir5, afterburner or voice attack.

I'm flying the P51-D real in instant action, (free flight) in the Normandy map.

I'm running 2.5.4 in stable mode.

I'm pleased to say that the F10 map function now works, along with all of the

Other F function keys.

I will now start adding, one by one the other options that I use and see where

thing's break down.

I'll let you know the outcome.

Thanks again.
