Blaze
The only modernized element of the DCS P-51D will be the pilot 3D model, which is based on a contemporary pilot's flight suit and head gear. Since you're going this route, will you at least include a boom-mic on the helmet, kind of important for communications methinks...and lower the pilot's visor (or give him the Mudhen-driver's aviators). :) I have a 3D model of a boom mic if you need/want it. VH-Rock
Another little request to do with the helmet; Would it be possible to map the Helmet onto the main skin so we can paint it please? I know a lot of people would like to have custom Helmets and the Horsemen also have a helmet design for the team which would look pretty cool when we fly the routine in DCS :) Virtual Horsemen - Right Wing (P-51) - 2008... Blaze
The helmet is currently able to be painted, looks like it uses the A-10 texture (HGU-55.bmp), but it's only a side map of it, which mirrors on both sides. To properly paint the Horsemen's Helmet they'd have to spherically unwrap it. :( i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. I know with a Sim that offers as much as DCS does, It would be a shame not to be able to have the helmet correctly painted Virtual Horsemen - Right Wing (P-51) - 2008... Blaze
If I'm correct, looks like the P-51 helmet uses the same texture as the A-10C pilot, which would be this (see 1-sided helmet texture): Edited January 31, 2012 by Blaze i7 7700K | 32GB RAM | GTX 1080Ti | Rift CV1 | TM Warthog | Win 10 "There will always be people with a false sense of entitlement. SimFreak
Those helmets are nice for airshows, but what if I want to test combat ceiling? That big mic is covering up oxygen system hookup.
Frostiken
Unrelated, but Big Beautiful Doll's combat record makes it all that much more sad that some French doucher took it out :( [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SimHq Tom Cofield
I suppose it would be appropriate for a 'modern' helmet but I am guessing that the cockpit is WW2 based and not modernized like this one: http://www.olympicflightmuseum.com/virtualtour.php#P51MUSTANG Obviously this is not a 'stock' Mustang.
