Upcoming ASSET PACKS?

OK, so despite a lot of controversy within the community about the whole direction with ASSET PACKS, it looks like that model is here to stay.

So what will the next asset pack be, or what asset pack do you wish for?

Im looking forward to the see the following ASSETS after 2.5:

AWACS, GCI and ATC bundle.

Weather with Rain on canopy.

Garmin GPS and Navigation pack.

Weapons PFM bundle. A/A and AG with more realistic damage.

Navy Pack / Carrier Ops.

It will break my piggybank for sure, but oh well.. Got to spend a bit on my hobby too :)

Don't forget airfield use, fuel cost and ordnance costs :D it can be done so that the fuel and weapons can be obtained as in-app purchases before the takeoff :D.

LotATC isn't old. It's in continuous development with regular updates. And its very fine with its features. ;)

Weather features and weapons PFM shouldn't be an asset package, but available for all via DCS core sim.

i dont understand why i have to pay for the AI-Units in addition to the Map itself to get the authentic WW2 feel.

Combined Arms itself badly needs an overhaul bevor they should consider selling anything thats based on it.

Selling of the units has nothing to do with CA. CA will, eventually, benefit from them but they are not being sold as an add-on for CA. They are being sold as AI units for WWII era scenarios.

You have to pay for them because ED can only afford to give away so much free stuff before the accounts get upset.

I really wonder what the reaction would have been if ED had just decided to sell the map and units as a package for $75 and left it at that.

So those that are entitled to the Normandy Map via the WWII Kickstarter, also get the asset pack for free. Have to be more than happy with that!!!

Yeah, I have to be happy with backing that project. It wasn't cheap ($250) but I ended up with 12 aircraft keys, another ED product key, and the Normandy map with the Asset Pack along with other goodies.

No complaints about the economics of it at all.

can you elaborate on what happens if one owns the map but not the assets? what will yu see if you fly a mission where these assets where placed?

You will not be able to play the mission if it contains asset that you don't own.

\Correct. Also, if it an MP server using the Asset Pack then you will not be able to join the server.

i hope this won't apply to blacksea or nevada maps.

Question: Are these assets (when purchased) automatically placed somewhere on the Normandy for me in single player to make airfields look "lived in", or are these assets only used by mission designers and campaign builders?

In other words, will my Normandy map look "empty" in terms of 3D objects strewn around without said asset pack?

You would need to place them yourself, or have missions that were created using them, like modern units now.

I find it extremely bad form to label warranted customer concerns as silly.

It is not unreasonable for people to ask where ED is going with their business model. That is nothing untoward.

I find that PR ... silly for a lack of a better word. ;)

If the concerns are as silly as you want us to believe, it should be easy enough to counter them with arguments. Calling them silly is *not* an argument.

If people have the decency to voice an honest concern instead of throwing a tantrum, what they can reasonably expect is to have that concern taken away by being reassured, not called silly.
