OPERATION YAYO – TROOP ESCORT TO CAMP KILO DCS WORLD HUEY Single Player

Briefing

The Georgian drug cartel group “KoKain” has been ravaging the city of Batumi for months now. Since their arrival there has been an increase in violence all over the city with drug related murders, robberies, and kidnappings. Sources state they are being supplied with weapons that have been trafficked in from Russia.

While they are still a few Kokain cells located within the city, most are currently located deep within the forest behind the Mtirala National Park. The Georgian Army has constructed a camp “Camp Kilo“ deep within the valley in the town of Khichauri in hopes of not only pushing the cartel group out, but also to locating there hidden base. We currently have scouts in the area monitoring the movements on the cartel along the Acharistskali Road and River.

Your Mission

As we begin Operation YaYo which is to drive out the KoKain Cartel from Batumi, we must first get our ground troops to Camp Kilo. Troops have arrived at Batumi International via C130’s this morning and 3 Chinooks are in route to Batumi to transport the troops to our camp. Scouts along the Acharistskali Road has saw an influx of cartel troops so our Chinooks are requesting a gunship escort.

You are to...

1. Fly to Batumi International from your home base of FARP Dallas. You should arrive 1-2 minutes before the transport helicopters. Land and wait.

2. Fly Escort for 3 Chinooks to Camp Kilo and back to the city of Batumi. Use of deadly force has been authorized.

3. The Commander will confirm when mission is complete. Afterwards you are to fly back to your home base of FARP Dallas for debriefing.

i played this mission, I can say that it is awesome.

Had lots of fun during the game.

* Not too long and boring flights

* Enemies are not too hard and not too easy.

* Very good organized scrpits, formations.

I hope you will continue to provide more missions like this one!

I recomend you to get more fuel and more weapons

MY first go at Operation Yayo in VR.

Really enjoyed it.

only two complaints.

1. it gets a bit laggy when dropping off the troops at the LZ. probably the clunky script engine.

2. Two of the chinook collide shortly after dropping off the troops and lifting off.

you may want to add in some turning waypoints to make the turn gradually after take off.

I thought they had made it but they obviously die before the shooting starts on the way home.

so I failed the mission, but I'm blaming the slick pilots :) I still guarded the lone chucky egg all the way home.

and made it home on fumes.

Sorry about that collision. I hate I had to change up the script a bit because of the last DCS update. It does take a bit more of a hit now that im using scripting for the embarking/disembarking process. Not so much when it was done directly thru the editor. Soon as ED has time to fix this again, i'll go back to the normal process. I had things working perfectly. :)

I made a small change to there liftoff times that I hope will solve any collision issues for next time. :joystick: And its kind of cool watching others fly your mission. Great video and thanks for flying!

@ElementLT

Apart from the collision those are some well behaved AI :)

they are a joy to follow. which is rare in single player.

nice and predictable.

and they are going at a good speed.

I liked the way I could catch them up with a long gun run.

and no issues with overstressing the engine.

the 20 minutes fuel master alarm came on at 46:00. and I landed at 1:05:30

so the last 20 mins were tense. especially as I didn't know if some bugger had holed my tank.

thanks Quadg for checking out the mission. I actually had the AI working very well before the last update. then it broke my mission so I had to resort to actually coding the embarking/disembarking process which takes a nice performance hit and unfortunately it makes the AI not that great. lol

I made a couple changes to the Chinooks when they lift off from Camp Kilo for the return flight back to Batumi to help avoid collisions. So far it seems to be working ok. Im hoping with the next DCS World update the embarking/disembarking process is fixed and I will go back to the mission editor version which actually works the best.

again thanks for flying!

Hi nc_neo, no not at all. It should actually work with any helicopter. I just tested a dry run in the Mi8. You can simply go in the editor and change the unit to which ever Helicopter you wish to use. (but do not make any other changes or it could break the game.) The Huey, Mia, KA-50, and Gazelle should work fine for this mission. Let me know if you need some help doing this and i'll set one up for you. :smilewink:

Enjoy!

Would you expect any problems playing this with the MI-8 instead of the Huey?

Hi, I just tried adding a Ka-50 and a SA342Minigun to this mission (as clients to make it multiplayer) and I'm having trouble. The Ka-50 and Gazelle only fly around as AI, you can't actually pilot them even when the ME has them set as Client.

Is there a simple way to add a few more clients to make this multiplayer COOP?

Hi PeachPossum! thanks for playing. It could be converted to a COOP multiplayer mission but unfortunately, it will not be an easy process for this mission. Would pretty much need to recode the mission to make it work properly.

Hey ElementLT,

I was afraid that was the answer. Maybe this is a good excuse to learn Moose. Thanks for putting this mission together and getting back so soon.

Downloaded the MP version from FraternitySim site to have a go but it has problems.

After Nooks land, Nook 3 takes too long to load and the line of troops to board seems to go on forever, respawning more as its loading up. End result, Nooks 1 & 2 take off before 3 is ready and they circle back and land. Then all troop lines respawn and process starts again. They eventually did get going, presumably when they were at capacity but the flight was strung out and then sim hung as they were about to cross the bridge at the mouth of the river.

Any chance you're going to fix the mission far latest version of DCS World? Looks fun and I'd like to fly it.
