DCS Update Patch Notes Discussion Thread

Can someone explain why the night lighting fixes were not included in this update when it was claimed weeks ago they were fixed internally already and just waiting to be deployed? I know the mem leak issues are ongoing and still being worked on, but more than one ED staff member said the night lighting fixes were done, not ongoing. So why did we not get them in this update?

Were they included and just for some reason not included in the fix list? I am dl'ing the update now but so far seems like they are not included from all accounts. So why not ED?

I think it was just not added to the notes, will check

Having a strange issue in the Spitfire with the latest update.

Spawning in a create fast mission or instant action the aircraft will not move on the ground! even at full throttle, tail doesn't lift....nothing. Can someone else check this to see if it's my install or a wider bug?

It looks like more work is being done on the lighting so was not added to the notes as completed, However changes have been done.

As far as I can tell the waves issue will be added to a future patch.

+1 Would be great if we can have a consolidated update log across DCS.

ED, is there a chance you unify the change logs with 3rd Parties ?

It's really concerning that we have no visibility on who is doing what on which modules. Since you guys are aware of what's going on on your platform, it may be easier for you to post at once than for users to pray for informations.

One of the most needed things in this forum.

Complete changelogs in one thread for all modules

It's the 3rd Party's job to submit a change log to ED before the patch notes are published.

Well, I've noticed yellow fog is gone, so at least some internal lighting changes made it to the public patch.

Yes, changes made it in, but some aspects are still WIP, such as moonlighting and visibility of lights among others.

I know that skate but plenty of times they are publishing the changes way ahead of DCS updates so a little more communication between third parties and ED should be used for a more comprehensive and complete changelog.

Searching all over the forum or asking multiple times if an update is included or not only brings confussion to the forums.

in principle,

ED is responsible for DCSW Core and ED modules Change-logs,

And 3rd parties are responsible for their own.

Yes, i know, and in theory is a good start point.

But im only saying i would be good one dedicated thread for all updates in one single sticky. Is only a suggestion.

Anyway, thanks for the last Open Beta update, testing a lot of things and very happy with it.

Just heard from a Ukraine user (Gennadii) at the "DCS VR Aviators" Facebook page that says when he tries to start the A10C from cold and dark (in any mission) the game crashes. Any one else have this experience? He mentioned this didnt happen before he updated today. I cant help him since I wait a week before installing new updates.

something to do with battery switch. Theres a thread in A-10 area I think.

Are we now required to be online to play? I keep getting authorization cancelled pop-up and all modules not available unless I log in when I start DCS.

One more thing to add after playing a mission. I think something has been done with memory usage. This mission usually starts out showing close to 20 gigs or more video memory usage in the in-game display and is now showing 13 gigs. I'd say that's a good thing.

It seems so, however there seems to be big improvements to the lights of buildings, they are far more visible at night and at longer ranges, looks very pretty.

Correct. Brightness and range of ground lights was significantly increased in this patch. Right now it's the best balance we can have of aesthetics and performance.

On a separate, but related matter, we are still looking into moonlight illumination.

The patch is pretty huge so I presume when some terrain files are fixed, all the modified files are being re-downloaded? It seems rather inefficient, especially when there'll be more maps.

Any chance of modifying the update procedure so that files are actually patched (and with generated diff files being downloaded instead) rather than being fully re-downloaded all over again?
