And that makes it okay?

No, not OK but a much better outcome than anyone has reason to hope for.. The typical outcome for such a poorly run crowdsourcing fiasco is all money lost and the project disappears forever...

Personally, as soon as I saw who was running the project I closed my wallet and walked away... (There are entire forums dedicated to bitching about this guy but that is another story altogether..) And once I saw the crazy entitlements I had to laugh because there was no way they could sustain that...

Unfortunately it sucks but the result is about as good a result as could be hoped for..

Welcome to crowdsourcing 101...

is this still in effect -

In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable. However, the restructured system still provides an excellent value for your backing contribution. For example: each aircraft will retail at $49.99; however, you will receive the item instead at only $20.00. This is in addition to other items such as the Normandy map ($20 contribution and above) and other perks as the backing contribution level rises.

What that means is basically the price you are getting for the aircraft, based on your pledge...

IE

Pledge 20 bucks get 1 aircraft

Pledge 40... get 2 aircraft...

see what I mean... basically you are getting each module for 20 bucks.

The wording was confusing, so it was removed... sorry guys.

ED had the option to drop DCS:WWII all together. Would you have preferred that?

I never understood how the hell it was going to be feasible to get all the aircraft, the map, and a physical manual for $50, that's like wal-mart bargain bin cheap... but I figured what the hell let's see what happens. I wasn't surprised at all when that didn't work out and I figured my money was as good as gone (a risk I expected from the get-go). I think that ED's new rewards system is much more realistic/reasonable, and I'm glad they picked up that fumble and managed to sort it out this well.

That is what ED is able to offer after rescuing the project.

From what I've been reading it appears most of RRG has been employed by ED. Meaning the majority of the team still exists, only under a different name. I don't understand how this allows RRG to fall out on their original promises, even if they were exaggerated and/or unattainable. Perhaps ED is due some praise for salvaging the project, but I still feel that someone has taken advantage of this community and has gotten away without penalty.

I understand that this was a crowdfunding campaign, and that crowdfunding campaigns come with risk... however as a consumer, I feel it is my responsibility to hold companies personally responsible for fulfilling their promises... and when those promises are not met, I expect either compensation or severe legal penalties. Otherwise, what would keep a company from ever doing such a thing again? Nothing.

With that said... I would like to say that I am extremely disappointed with this development. DCS: WW2 has greatly benefited through false pretenses, and in an indirect way (since ED is now managing the project, and I would assume reaping all profits from this module) ED has also benefited from these false pretenses. DCS: WW2 would have very likely (if not most certainly) been a failed campaign, if it were not for their extremely generous rewards. Perhaps if this module was not financially feasible, it should not have been started at all.

Other Kickstarter campaigns which have failed to provide a product post-funding have been met with fierce legal consequences... and I feel that those responsible for this particular campaign have been able to escape those consequences through political maneuvering, and it makes me wonder if that was the plan all along.

In comparison, I would like to say that my experience with Leatherneck Simulations was excellent. Regardless of their situation, they were still capable of honoring my original pledge to the MIG:21BIS IndieGoGo campaign... and I found that (again... as a consumer) to be incredibly noble.

Essentially... TL: DR version. I am disappointed with this, and I don't feel enough measures have been taken to keep this kind of thing from ever happening again. Taking advantage of the Simulator/Tactical community via crowdfunding campaigns has become an all to commonplace marketing strategy recently... and I feel obligated in voicing my dissatisfaction.

Bluedrake... The original post is where we are at now... you still are only picking out what info you want to see... and making up other stuff... I just cant be bothered at this point. I am gonna sue because I am only getting $150 dollars worth of product for 40 bucks, the original project is still going to be made, and the rewards are adjust.... but I am gonna sue dammit!!!

I apologize guys... My patiences is starting to waiver a little...

Everyone has the right to be upset/disappointed/whatever... but this is where we are at. ED is doing their best with the turkey they have been handed... we are lucky that we still have this project at all, and anything what so ever to show for our money...

Thanks ED, Wags & Co.

I'm very happy to get 2 planes (which ones I want to chose)

I would like to say that I'm a big fan of P-51D Mustang and I hope that the others planes will be as good as P-51D is. (P-51D is close to perfection.)

I pledged to get all flyables + alpha access and sure, perhaps I can understand why I can't get all the planes given the current situation (doesn't mean I'm overly happy about it though...). But removed alpha access? I'm sure I'm not the only one that added a few bucks just to get that. And surely alpha access won't cost ED anything?

What makes me a bit annoyed is that there would probably not have been a DCS WW2 anytime soon to begin with without RRG and this crowdfunding debacle. All of us that backed it DID take a risk. Just wish that risk had paid off a bit more since our gain is less than on the average Steam sale (I actually paid LESS than $25 for the disc version of the P-51D at a Gamestop sale here in Sweden).

What exactly am I making up? Please correct me on anything I've said.

As far as I can tell... this module has received funding based off of false pretenses... if Sega promised everyone a Lamborghini for 5$, made 5,000,000$ in preorders... then got bought out by EA two days later... EA got the 5,000,000$ and said "hey sorry, Sega was just crazy... that was never going to happen. We're going to give each of you a bundle of twigs instead... thanks for the 5,000,000$" I guarantee you they would see legal ramifications.

Granted that's a extremely exaggerated example, but you get my point.

And if you can't be bothered anymore... then don't reply to me, but I'm upset about this and I'm going to post about it. Because that's what upset people do. I genuinely think that there is a problem here, and I'd like to talk about it on this thread with or without you.

I asked a little bit more about Alpha, and the answer I got is that it MAY still happen... that is MAY... as in not for sure... they dont want to list it right now if they have to pull it later because the technically cant pull it off.
I wouldn't be interested in an alpha aircraft anyways. Like you said, full of bugs. Unless I were a tester, I suppose.

Fine...

(since ED is now managing the project, and I would assume reaping all profits from this module)

This statement is just 100 types of wrong...

The KS fund didnt even fund one module, let alone the 4 aircraft besides the P-51 and Fw 190, then imagine creating DCS World all over again... but in 1944... all the models and such, all the art assets... yeah reaping in those profits buddy... I'll ask Wags about that after his private jet lands, I think he still has the comm station in his gold plated hummer....

Firstly: Never said I was going to sue. Not my words.

Secondly: ED gets the money. Development time = Money. It's an asset.

I never said whether or not the KS fund funded a complete module or not. I'm saying that ED now reaps the profits behind a product partly funded via false pretenses. It doesn't matter how much or little the company makes, from a moral standpoint accepting a product even partly funded by funds pledged under false impressions is wrong (in my view.)

For those of you asking whether I would have rather the DCS: WW2 module not have happened at all. Yes that is what I would have wanted. If ED wants a DCS: WW2 module, they could have started from scratch and left RRG to the legal wolves. If ED is not capable of fulfilling the promises made by the original company, then they should not take over the project.
