Bell 206/TH-57/OH-58/TH-67

Probably one of the most prolific helicopters ever made. You will find this air frame in every corner of the Earth. This helicopter has been used for every role you can think of, but especially important in any aspiring helicopter pilots military career. In the U.S. Navy/Marine Corps it is known as the TH-57, and is the primary training helicopter before moving on to any of the combat choppers that we employ. In Vietnam, the Original OH-58A was employed as a scout and Liaison platform, and of course the civilian version the B-206 Should be instantly recognizable to just about every one.

If fixed wing trainers get so much attention, and now Eagle Dynamics are giving the green light for Civilian Aircraft, The Bell 206 series has to be up there on the priority list.

Just my two cents. -Woog

I would love that! That’s the aircraft I learned to fly on and the 58 was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in a helicopter.

Wouldn't the Huey be the most prolific? Tied for 1st if nothing else?

I think the Huey is more prolific because of Vietnam but the OH-58/bell206 for a lot of military aviators is what we learned on. Prolific I guess for different reasons. I can’t tell you how exciting it is to fly the 58 doors off for the first time low level it is just amazing. I get why people may not want 58a/c in the game because it is not that useful for how we play the game but it still would be fun nonetheless.

58D is pretty different from the 58a/c and unfortunately I don’t think they are making the 58D anymore for DCS http:// https://www.helisimmer.com/news/polychop-talks-future-shows-oh-58/ the 58D would be a lot more useful but I will never turn down a helicopter.

There is no decision made yet concearning DCS and the revealed behind the curtains project.

Do not spread panic among the community, please. Just because you have not seen any news about it for 6 weeks does not mean that nothing is happening in the background.

Totally agree with you. It would be great to have a 206/TH-57 in DCS. The "Oil Campaign" for the Mi-8 has shown the potential (civil) helicopters have in DCS even if they don't go guns blazing 24/7.

Sidenote: Even the German Army has reverted to using the B206 in basic flight training in 2017!

Could you enlighten us on the decisive factors that would make or break DCS (2.5) as a platform for the OH-58? There seems to a large market for the OH-58D itself and if a civilian version (B206) is included that may very well be a crucial consideration for more people to switch over to DCS (which IMHO offers a lot more in terms of detail) from the FXS / P3D crowd.

+1 for Nanne's comment.

And I'm not usually one for asking explanations from the devs, but why in the heck would you tease us with this is you weren't going to release it on DCS?? That's been my thinking this whole time, "there's no way it isn't coming here, why would they have shown it to us?", however, if you aren't then that's pretty crummy.....

"Hey look at our model, you'll never fly it here...."

Just my $.02

I will not go into details here with an answer, but the reason for not revealing which platform we will use for the Kiowa is related to negotiations. There is not more to say cause I do not want to risk to harm such negotiations.

We do have a plan, but we will have to see if bigger players will allow us to go for DCS in first place. Who and why and so on is confidential and I will not disclose anything in that matter to anybody, besides the people that have to know. I am sorry

I thank you guys for your comprehension.

Releasing a complete module in a module will not happen, so if there is a new product from us in the futre, do not expect in case of a Kiowa to also find a 206 in that module. I want to state that now before people start the develop false expectations.

We released the Gazelle as we did to many reasons, but inculding 4 modules into one will not be the case in the future.

I don’t think the OP was asking for a module inside a module the 206 is not even similar to the 58D nor really is a 407 so I wouldn’t expect that. I think the op was asking for a separate module but we have kind of gotten off topic.

This is not an attempt to remove away from the subject but just a short comment

I think you should rethink this one more time. This exactly why I and many others bought it. You dont have the option to reconfigure an airplane and helicopter that are made for many options. I think it increase your sale a lot by give the same module more features.

It's not like you have to start from the bottom of each model, but I'm well aware that it's a big job to do. If a model is coming in several variants, the price can be set after that and I have not problem with it :thumbup:

I like the Gazelle a lot and love all the variations we got. Thank you.

Looking forward to see what is coming in the future

@Red Dragon DK:

Initially we only had the 342M Viviane in plannings. Later on we decided to extend the module. For a customer it might sound resonable to do as many versions of a helicopter as possible, but in most cases this is a bad idea in terms of production and maintenance of the module. You have to do equal ammount of ork on all 4 versions as if it would be only one module. Would you buy a Gazelle for DCs for 200$ ?, I would not myself, so I can not expect a customer to do so.

Fact is, our next helicopters we have planned and are also in the pipeline at certain stages will all be one version we decide. Even if there are 3 modules that might have multiple versions on the market, we already made a choice and picked specific versions that seem to be logical for us.

And the versions we picked, well, how should I say it without influendcing or sounding biast? --the customers will not want to fly a different variant, lets say it that way

What we chose this will be revealed step by step, but for now not all contracts are signed ;)

@ViEnShOcK: Yes a Chinook would be nice, but the rotordesign is the most complicated in the helicopter world and is unique in all respects, so this is something that will have to wait for a long time, others have higher priority on our side. About the time when we will have our next module being released will not be shared yet. Expect news about modules and at some point we will set a date

So it wasn’t the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior I’m sorry I’m just a little confused I know there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes but it would be nice to know what is going on with the 58
