2 in 1 PC running DCS?

Recommended Posts

Is there a good 2 in 1 PC/tablet that runs DCS world?

Not looking for the ultimate gaming experience.

Running = Graphics render, cpu does not get red hot, and at low settings some game experience is possible. There purpose is to design missions.

Wanna have touch with keyboard. High resolution would be good to have.

Surface Pro 4 does not run DCS. Any other that do?

Sven

Agreed. I may not be up on the latest tablets, but if my maxed out Surface Pro 4 won't run DCS (I've never tried it) then I doubt any other tablet will.

EDIT: Besides, even if it did work, 2736 x 1824 resolution on a 12 inch display would make me go blind in short order.

Surface Pro 4

Forget that idea right away !

I had DCS world running on a Surface Pro 4 with 4GB.

The only issue were texture issues... Due to low memory.

But it runs fine. Very well actually.

Please read my sentence carefully lol :-)

No real gaming experience is required, low fps is okay.

What I wanna do is to be "portable", when I have time, I can spend some time coding and designing missions on the train or at the airport.

Some tablets come with 16GB of internal memory, an i7 under the hood etc. Although an i5 is more than enough. The issue is memory and video card compability.

DCS world is not such a huge program actually.

Hmm,

Try it, 7th gen CPU and iGPU should then work, get 8G RAM etc...

or..take a MBP15" with ded. GPU and BootCamp it, thats what I did.

Your posts are confusing. First you say it does not run, then you say that it runs fine.

If VRAM, not RAM, is the issue then no Surface Pro 4 will work since, IIRC, they all use the same graphics. I have an I7/16GB version but I have not tried DCS on it.

I like to confuse people. A hobby of mine. No, it's my Belglish that is the cause.

I should have been more specific, sorry for that.

2 years ago, I ran dcs on a SP4, but there were texture issues.

See this thread at Intel support...

Bad-CRC used to help on that discussion too!

I am really interested how dcs runs on your SP4, with 16GB of RAM!

Well, let's find out. I am downloading v1.5 right now (at an amazing 15MB/s, which is pretty close to max for my connection). Do you have a mission you would like me to test? Obviously, it isn't rigged for actually flying (no joystick, TIR, etc.).

Any small mission will do. The bottleneck is not the CPU, it is the gpu or the memory.

I will be out of the house for the afternoon but I will try to do some playing around this evening and let you know how it works.
