without AWACS you're mostly blind in DCS ...

i don't know if there would still be GCI functions possible without it ?

if this would be the case, you could give it a try in one mission, but if it isn't .. i believe it would kill the fun pretty fast (i am afraid ...)

But hey, we're here for experimenting aren't we ? :D

here we go:

€dit: SRS seems to be not fully configured, see attachment

nice, you deliver!

to be honest i didn't read the whole thread, so from my understanding this needs to be a server side mod?

about the srs: what are you missing?

it's a script, just like every other script. It's part of the Mission. You as a Player have to do Nothing :)

for SRS: stuff like line-of-sight and so on is not enabled, that would give us a nice extra touch ;)

I think it's the nature of the missions: it's much more easy here to figure out what to do, and people use the Server as a kind of easy Team death match enviroment (inlcuding myself). The constant AWACS will always lead you to your next contact, there is almost no need to do comms at all except for calling bogey dope every 0.1sec

This is very different on DDCS or Blueflag, that's why People go on SRS + the missing dynamic results are less motivating to plan and coordinate.

I like the Server for what it is, a quick team death match without that BVR Fox3 nonsense

:)

I also like it very much.

I dont have much free time and this server has the right amount of dogfight and ground attack missions which are just at the right difficulty level

p.s.

removing the AWACS would be a bad decision

In every mission I have, ground pounders have lots to do. And ground pounders should coordinate with other ground pounders and/or escort. But you rarely see that. And if listening in on SRS, all you hear is "got one!", "I'm RTB", "Wait! I'm in a dogfight!", etc., hardly for a teamwork. But that's mostly the case in every server.

That's not something you can generaly change, but you can join a squadron and use comms properly. TS is more like for those who are looking for someone to team up with on a short notice. But squadrons use it as well.

Endemic of every online game ever:

"I'm going for objective at x can I get cover"

"No sorry, I'm just here for the KDR"

Guys, any idea why the Su-25A is not available in the Cold War Server?

Wanted to fly it the other day, but couldn't as there were no slots.

Some missions have the Su-25A. Others don't. Depends on the scenario I have in a mission.

Put the C101 please in all missions, doesn't hurt anybody.

The L-39 and the C-101 are in most missions. If memory serves me well, they're both in 10 missions out of a total of 13. The new mission will also have both.

The mission Command & Conquer had the C-101. But then I removed it because of the damage model that has been corrected now, so I'll add it back.

A new mission is available!

Operation: Swedish Delivery

* Mission lasts for 6 hours

* The mission will be online today around 1900 zulu.

Situation:

Red has Maykop

Blue has Vody

Viggen pilots are assigned to complete SEAD missions hunting four Sa-2 sites behind the enemy line. Waypoints will guide them through. Once that's accomplished, four B-52's will be on their way to bombard Maykop's airbase!

Between Maykop and Vody each coalition has one FARP. The FARP's can be captured and recaptured multiple times.

RED Objectives:

MiG's, L-39's:

Waypoint 1 is our FARP Shpora (check out the mark on the F-10 map), where you need to provide CAP.

Waypoint 2 is the enemy's FARP (check out the mark on the F-10 map), where you need to provide cover for our strikers and helicopters.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Su-25's, Ka-50's:

Waypoint 1 is the enemy's FARP (check out the mark on the F-10 map). We believe there is one Chaparral and multiple AAA's.

Destroy the FARP structures including the armed watch-towers and any ground threats in that area.

Once that's done, friendly Mi-8's can deploy troops to capture the FARP.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mi-8's:

Deploy troops at the enemy's FARP at waypoint 1 once his defences have been eliminated.

You can deploy AAA's to strengthen our FARP's garrison or at Maykop.

If we lose the FARP, Mi-8's from Maykop can still deploy troops to recapture it, after destroying the enemy's units there.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frequencies:

AWACS: 124 MHz, (channel 0 for MiG-21's and L-39's)

AWACS MiG-15: 4.95 MHz (tuned by default)

Maykop: 125 MHz, 3.95 MHz

FARP Shpora: 127.5 MHz

FARP Kapel: 122.5 MHz

BLUE Objectives:

Fighters:

Waypoint 1 is our FARP Warsaw (check out the mark on the F-10 map), where you need to provide CAP.

Waypoint 2 is the enemy's FARP (check out the mark on the F-10 map), where you need to provide cover for our strikers and helicopters.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Viggens:

Eight available Viggens for four different flights, each consisting of two ships. The four flights have the code-names Alpha, Bravo, charlie and Delta.

Each flight group is assigned to destroy an Sa-2 radar unit (check out image). You don't to destroy the launchers.

RVPQXPI.jpg

Once the Sa-2 sites are eliminated, four B-52's will head west and bombard the hell out of Maykop's airbase!

Alpha: Follow the waypoints 1-5 to the southwest. Waypoint 6 is placed exactly over the Sa-2 radar unit.

Bravo: Follow the waypoints 1-5 to the southwest. Waypoint 6 is placed exactly over the Sa-2 radar unit.

Charlie: Follow the waypoints 1-3 to the northwest. Waypoint 4 is placed exactly over the Sa-2 radar unit.

Delta: Follow the waypoints 1-3 to the northwest. Waypoint 4 is placed exactly over the Sa-2 radar unit.

NOTE:

Once a radar unit has been destroyed, a friendly infantry unit will spawn north of Vody carrying the name of that enemy unit to confirm the kill. Use the cmdr slot to see it. That gives you a total of four infatry units for four Sa-2 radar units.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frequencies:

AWACS: 251 MHz

Vody: 264 MHz

FARP Warsaw: 252.5 MHz

FARP Moscow: 258.5 MHz
