EtherealN
Boberro, because it would victimize legitimate users. A large portion of users register because they need help with something and want to ask a question, and you can imagine how frustrating it might be if you are experiencing a weird bug, wants some help, and when you register you end up having to wait several hours before anyone even gets a chance to help you. Such measures would, if anything, be truly desperate, and there are better ways. Also, to whomever it was that speculated about the chinese new year - don't make so many assumptions about the origin of the spam when you don't have any information. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Le0kong
What about not parsing links/rich formating for the first few posts, prevents accidental click on spam posts, and for legitimate users is just a small annoyance. The reason for the increase of spam here i guess is the great ratings of eagle.ru on Google. When searching around on Google for HOTAS informations, this forum was always the first to appear. EDIT: They are using images now too, it will be great no not parse these too, so to not turn the forum NSFW. Greb
Such statements shows that you don't really know how spammers work nowadays. There are almost no more bots, but real people getting money for registering and placing ad's on forums. It's not like a simple CAPTCHA change would be sufficient... WOW!! How does that job interview go?
MTFDarkEagle
Hi, can you copy-paste nonsense with a linkie in it? Yes? Congratulations! You have the job! To bad this community is slowly being taken over by these pure evil, low minded copy-pasters! On the forum there are 15 moderators and few Super moderators. Let's say 20 of them. How many people register per day? 5? I guess not more 10. How many of those 10 are waiting for help? How many of them are just next folks to read forum and watch it? If you can't wait up to 2-3 hours for help (even half hour cause mod checks only check 1st post....), I highly doubt you will be enough patient to play and learn sim as it should be played. So taking in consider whole amount of moderators and "frustrated" people waiting for help I think your argument is a bit unreal :) Edited January 10, 2011 by Boberro Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. ED Team Groove Posted January 10, 2011 ED Team Share Posted January 10, 2011 WOW!! How does that job interview go? Usually you simply buy the workforce of sweatshops which will do the registration and postings. There are forums out there to buy stuff like this. sobek
lets go and spam THEM :) See 'blue frog'. What an epic fail that was. The sheer processing power and bandwith of botnets available to some spammers must not be underestimated. To females? IMO most would blush :P but what do I know, I come from a very conservative society. I just wanted to hint that these statements are a little sexist, but we're getting off track here. :) Edited January 11, 2011 by sobek Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa!
