Realism by requiring set laser codes on the ground.

Would be nice if the realism would be taken in consideration in the future by requiring the laser codes of the bombs, rockets and missiles to be set by the ground crews.

If not as defined in the mission briefing (this is important by the mission designer and in future the dynamic campaigns) then at least by the pilot using kneeboard before rearming (so if you change codes, you need to rearm, to time the task that weapons specialists would be working with the weapons).

The similar thing is of course with the rocket pods, where it is per pod set that what is salvo size/pattern.

Sure there has been made some unrealistic systems to fighters like Hornet and Viper to allow pilot change the laser codes for weapons and that work would be undone, but we are here after realism, right?

It's interesting that in some cases (like the F-5E-3 and the F-14B) there is stuff in the mission editor for the laser codes. But for the Hornet and the F-16C there isn't, when they're using the same bombs.

You could do the same with ground-set fuses.

If this is implemented in parallel with the option to have a JTAC switch his laser designator code to the bombs code, I am all for it.

As well, as options to have AI wingman drop LGBs on MY laser designation.

A lot of people, including me, put this or a similar request in the "Mission Editor wishlist query" ED had last year.

Would be really cool to have bombs with fixed codes and change laser designators as IRL.

-1 Clients not always takeoff at once and discuss about codes, but can work in the same area; bad luck with using the same code and can not alter, only when return to the airfield

Time shifting to change bombs code is allowed to a game.

Then it's up to the mission designer to assign individual codes. And if you start from cold then you can alter it from the kneeboard.
