I made a Supercarrier video lol! Please add fixed camera points

I’ve barely had F-18 and Supercarrier for a week and I wanted to practice creating videos to help familiarize myself with my editing software. It is SO hard to get a steady shot with Supercarrier because you have to anchor the view to placed objects and then use very awkward means to “look” or pan in the direction you wish. It definitely adds a component of “Shakycam” but you can’t use that in every shot I think lol!

I’m a complete amateur at video editing, but the modules give me a great platform to work with!

I know I placed personnel in crazy positions, and my taxiing is all wrong as are my handling of the plane controls, but hey. I shot a two-wire trap flying manually :)

Excellent! Maybe I'm gullible or easily impressed but there were sections of your vid that looked like real-life carrier ops footage. I'm shocked you had 3 downvotes on youtube so I made sure to give your vid the first upvote :smilewink:

Downvotes? Lol! Well I guess it IS Youtube so all kinds come out including those who maybe never heard of DCS, or pro video content creators who think if it isn’t pro quality, it’s junk.

I’m excited to hear there are fixed cameras on the deck other than the the very restrictive LSO! I can’t wait to figure out the new cameras and try and make more videos. The detail of the sim is incredible! Much of it is totally unnoticed unless you view it up close from stable external cam views.

OMG Thank you for letting me know about the already fixed cam positions on the carrier! I swear I was searching all over for information about them on the net (admittedly I didn't read thru the manual if the info is in there somewhere :) )

I made the video mainly by looking at one of the escort helicopters I placed, which made the view drift constantly (though it was nice for a kind of slow panning shot) but the way it made you turn your head in the WEIRDEST positions to level out the view with the TrackIR was almost comical! LoL! The same was true by using the external cams from a player aircraft parked on the deck.

I just tried using the F9 cam to access the main and cat views and realized that the F9 on my track IR was conflicting with same key binding for Supercarrier! (stupid me) It works great now and I'm going to make more and hopefully much better videos in the future. :)

Right Alt + Y (I believe) also will remove the lower status bar.

Liked the video though, couple of small tweaks and you'll be making killer content in no time.

I have a couple of really nitpicky comments as well, please take them as only constructive criticism:

- The Salvage crane should be placed at the junkyard behind the island with the front-facing port side of the carrier

- Don't use the F/A-18 for catapult shots, the launch bar does not interact/extend - use the F/A-18C Lot 20 for this

- For the hand placed carrier personnel use less of the yellow shirts, in the video there are like 25 of them all scattered around, this would not be the case in real life. Mix in the entire rainbow army all across the deck

- The plane guard helo should be on the starboard side off the fight deck by 500 feet and stationed at 300 feet ASL, The SH-60 would also be the more correct aircraft to use for this. In the 1980s the SH-3 would be the best aircraft to use for this, but due to the limitations of DCS the CH-53 does look similar enough

I couldn't believe it! When I watched there were 3 downvotes and no upvotes which made no sense to me as you did a great job. Just for fun, had another look and now you have 5 upvotes and still 3 down so you're on a roll now :thumbup:

Again I admit that I was just too lazy at this point to remove the status bar at the bottom LoL! I was SO excited about both Supercarrier and F18 ( I got them at the same time) that I was really skipping a lot of detail steps to get a video put together as quickly as possible :) I'm just as excited about my new video editing software (I've made some birthday videos for friends and put together presentations for various people) and I've come to realize that I really like video editing compilation :lol:

I'm going to make another video right now after changing things per your suggestions and see how it turns out.
