Steel Jaw
It is easy to figure out. Does your A-10C purchase say 'Beta' or not? Everyone does keep their purchase records, don't they? Mine does not say "beta" though I did buy into the beta, but the purchase date is clearly within the beta time frame. So you cant go by whether it says beta or not. [purchase made] Completed (of 04.10.2010 14:26:50) "You see, IronHand is my thing" My specs: W10 Pro, I5/11600K o/c to 4800 @1.32v, 64 GB 3200 XML RAM, ASUS RTX3060ti/8GB. Aginor
I guess so. (which in turn tells us that we are still far away from release btw.) On the topic of the announced stuff: Ability for road signs and light signals for new mapsReally? We still don't have a proper ATC but we get traffic lights? I don't mean to rant, but... really? I love graphics stuff, everyone does, and I'm sure I'll love DCSW 2.0, but sometimes I wonder what the priorities are. Invisibull
*Improved performance I certainly hope this includes the Pony/Sabre tracer lag. It's the single most important issue imo. The dedicated server option would be a close number two. Razorback
I have some troubles with my DCS 1.2.12 folders. It's a mess in some folders. For exemple CA is still located in Mods/Aircraft (normally it should be place in Mods/Tech) and if I delete it, I can't play anymore with this module...:music_whistling: My question : Is DCS 2.0 will be an update as it's normally be after each DCS update or it should be a complete new installation ? Aginor
Huh? Did the forums just have some hiccup? I posted an answer to SithSpawn but it vanished... Anyway, here is it again: I know that of course, it just looks like the priorities are off. ED spends lots of manpower in awesome graphics, but other, important parts stay the same for years. I hope once EDGE is released the AI, especially the ATC but also lots of other stuff gets improved. Maybe it is a matter of personal taste, graphics are something many people care about, but for me there are so many other things that are much more important for a good sim. Only parts of those are covered by the things that were announced. DCSW weapons cheat sheet speed cheat sheet

It is also important groundwork (pun intended) for the upcoming DCS armored vehicle that is in development. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Aginor
Since I was talking about exactly those things posted in the first post of this very thread I was on topic. Anyway, the other mentioned features I want to talk about are the higher object count and the sound API. Are there any rough numbers about how much the object count will improve? I mean: 20%? 100%? Just so I know what we are actually talking about. And does that mean map objects (like houses) or mission objects (like planes and so on)? And about the sound API: What is it? What kinds of sounds will be easier to create or implement? Is there any info about that? Becasue it sure sounds exciting! Isegrim
More detailed tree models with collision for new maps........ How exactly is that done with small forrests. 1. every single tree 2. as one part but exact. (sometimes there are open areas in the forrests in DCS like in real) means no tree no collision. 3. as one block (as example if you try to fly into a free area inside a forrest without trees you will still collide/crash) Would love to see something like example 2 ... 1 would be awesome. 3 = worst case scenario for Helicopterpilots. Also what will happen if somebody switches trees off in options menu? ISE "Blyat Naaaaa" - Izlom
Aginor
If they make them collideable I think you won't be able to turn them off anymore. Or perhaps they'll just paint them on the surface in that case, so you know you aren't allowed to fly low in those areas. EDIT: Or perhaps it will be a server setting, so you can "cheat" by deactivating them in SP, but not in MP. rcjonessnp175
I sure hope we can hover in openings of wood lines. Terrain concealment is key for us rotor heads survival. Also to add to the questions in regards to tree collision does, that mean we can lure missiles into trees thus trees take them out just like hill sides correct? Aginor
I would assume that, yes. If you can collide with trees so can missiles. That will also fix the problem of enemy tanks shooting you through the woods in CA, which is great! CookPassBabtridge
Sorry if I missed it being discussed, but are DK2 performance improvements a priority at all? 75FPS is so often a big ask. On the current engine I had a 4.5GHz 5820K with SLI superclocked 980's, and performance varied. The SU-25T was pretty nice and sooth at max settings, apart from a little judder over big towns. Any of the more complex aircraft, especially choppers, HATED being in airbases or above towns and the FPS would drop very low. They were better away from these frame rate hoggers. Turning down settings will obviously improve the performance, but the old "I spent a lot of cash on my computer and I want maximum shiny" principle is driving, especially when doing low runs in the Huey. leafer
I don't know about you guys but I personally think the amount of details on future enhancement is extremely scarce. I would really appreciate some extra 3 sentences on sound and weather improvements. Recently I've learned about some existing weather model features by accident while reading on problems with FM of Kurfurst beta. You've got a lot to brag about. Go ahead! :) Why was my post deleted?
