@TC

Btw, if it weren't for all of the SP players paying for this sim there would not be a sim for the MP folks to play. There simply aren't enough MP players to support the product.

Incorrect.

- DCSW does not require to have a SSD

- DCSW does not even recommend to have a SSD

- No currently available module does require to be installed on a SSD

- No currently available module is recommended to be installed on a SSD

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?ProductId=21&end_pos=137&scr=product&lang=en

- SSD storage is as limited, or rather unlimited, as any other storage solution.

Correct is, ED does find the GB savings of the users install(s) that much important that it´s nowhere even mentioned:

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/world/

It does list however:

  • Powerful mission and campaign editors (has issues)
  • Multiplayer (has issues)
  • Massive inventory of air, land and sea combat units and weapons (has issues)
  • Advanced AI (has issues)
  • Fast mission generator (has issues)
  • Dynamic weather and seasons (has issues)
  • Training missions (has issues)
  • Mission replay system (has issues)
  • Pilot log book

As I´m neither writing a review, nor am I a tester I havn´t checked for (all) of the above listed issues myself. Sure enough however one can look into the relevant forum and find them there and I must not repeat them here.

Seriously tho, if you can´t come up with something better than "HD footprint" why don´t you just keep quiet and let the thread drift onto page 12 ?

Cheers

TC

@EtherealN

I would like to direct you to http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=185 so that you spend some time contributing to a solution instead of flaming paying customers. Also, at a glance I don't see any complaints / problems there with HD footprint. :music_whistling:

Edit:

Tried finding something but the threads I saw were asking about if an SSD would help FPS. That hard drive footprint is clearly a HUGE problem. :doh:However, I did manage to find some multiplayer bugs! http://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=197

+rep TC (as soon as I figure out how)

On a side note:

Is there a place for the community to give feedback (not via the forums) on forum moderators and testers? If not I strongly believe there should be something implemented so that some of the testers who show lack or knowledge / professionalism on the forums can be made aware of their adverse effects on the community. I would also suggest a formal means of accepting applications for testers instead of the insider buddy system that exists now. ED seems to rely on the same people and some fresh blood would calm the online egos of existing testers and bring new valuable information for further development.

I'm posting this to back TC and bring up an ongoing problem. I will not be responding to any posts regarding this problem as I do not have the time to engage in a flamewar. If you would like to discuss the shortcomings mentioned you can contact me via PM. It's nothing personal.

Correct is, that ED announced that they wanted to go that way a long time ago, and likewise the community had been expecting and asking for the World/Module concept for some time as well.

...on forum moderators and testers?

Huh

An opinionated fellow our mod Mr. EtherealN is, true, but isn't he entitled to his opinions regardless? Or should forum moderators and/or beta testers just STFU because they're affiliated with ED? I think not.

We have a Suggestion Box thread in the Forum and Site Issues forum section: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=48315, so let's use it as intended and knock off the moderation discussion and discussion of moderators in particular. Thank you.

MP is the one and only reason for DCSW as the SP user couldn´t care less if he get´s updates for 3 different modules he may have bought or just via one.

Speak for yourself.. I'm an SP user, too, and was rather disturbed with all the separate releases and updates and re-releases. The DCS World concept is the only way which makes sense for the series (it was a necessity to be able to offer 3rd party add-ons, anyway) and if it takes some time to adjust some extra bugs, IMHO it's well worth waiting for a little more.

LOL, all this to defend a careless statement that people don't care about the storage consumption and amount of patches needed to be downloaded for each of the modules? SSD or no SSD, IMHO, I don't want to have 50 GBs of separate modules if I can have 10 and certainly don't want to download possibly several gigs of patches each time something common is changed. Your mileage may vary.
