As someone who was born and raised in Trier, and hung around a lot at Bitburg Housing and Spangdahlem AFB back then, this comes as a shock.

Really glad the Jet crashed into the woods and the Pilot survived with minor injuries.

Since I still live near ramstein with all those heavy ones above me I fear another C-5 going down.

The last one hit the meadows, if 1 hits K-town ...Lord forbid

AFAIK the wing in Spangdahlem operates block 50's. Apparently that one in particular has had the damage model implemented. Sorry, couldn't resist :D

Of course, glad to know the pilot is safe. Those type of incidents a part of any type of aircraft operation with a certain probability.

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

I have been to Trier,, I lived in Germany 3 years. Trier is really nice and fascinating history. A real shame, as it is very rare for our bases in Germany to lose aircraft. They have a very good safety record for as many flights they have plus the joint NATO exercises. I was with the 86th Wing many years ago.
