A have a Question, will my Stats still be saved after i got like A/C and Ground kills in a sortie but then got Kicked from Server due to some lag and i dont know Conection issues?

I think so yes. But "disconnects" might get recorded as a "crash" - this is to stop people quickly leaving the server in order to manipulate their stats.

Phil, have you considered giving back the MW50 option to 109s? I know it is not historical, and the lack of MW50 limits the 109's performance to an accurate level, BUT: 109s flying in the summer of 44 were more maneuverable. Now we have a 109 that's sliggish AND slow. It's absolute dead meat against Spitfires, and maybe even Mustangs. You can't outturn them, can't outclimb them, can't even run away before they clobber you. The 190 is even more outdated, so it leaves the red side with a very serious disadvantage.

What we could do, is enable MW50 at one or two the rear bases. This meaning 109 pilots have to choose between a near-front spawn with a "slower" 109, or a further away spawn with the MW50.

However I'm not convinced that this makes the best sense. For a start, there is no 150 Octane available for the allies, nor any Spitfire 14s. I've already made loads of compromises for the blue side, which are not reflected by history at all. It is a slippery slope, making concessions like this.

Just had a fairly epic chase on the SoW server.

It was a grey, sultry mission. I was bombing a target with a FW 190 A-8 near La Platiere, when 1 (possibly 2) P-51s turned up. I dropped ordnance (no hits) and decided it was better to clear out... the Anton is not so fast, so once you attract trouble, it is difficult to get rid of it. So I dived down to the deck, picked up a river, flew along that for a bit, then did a hard turn out towards the west. Checked 6, and saw a P-51 on my tail. Ack!

So, I hugged the ground, and skimmed over the tree tops as he gave pursuit. Nearing the western coast, I could not see him. Figuring he might assume I was headed for Lessay and thus he'd ambush me on landing, I did a hard left and headed south. Checking the FREYA radar report, I saw he'd turned to follow. I could not see him, but I'd no idea if he still had me in sight. Then I started a long trek east-southeast, following river valleys, occasionally shifting direction a bit. Crossed Sourdeval, although I was starting to lose confidence in my navigation. Checked 6 a few times. Sometimes I saw him, sometimes not. I was starting to wonder whose fuel would run out first. And even if it was his, would I then have enough myself to figure out where I was and get to a friendly airstrip.

Gradually creeping nearer. I just simply could not shake him. Eventually, the bullets flew and suddenly: pilot kill. After such a long chase, it was over instantly. I typed him a salute in chat... S! ...and logged off exhausted.

Well done, whoever that was. Your tenacity and persistence was most admirable.

Haha, that was me, and I just landed with 2 gallons of fuel remaining. I bagged a 109 too, but it was a really tough fight. I lost you so many times...the lack of dot icons, plus my tiny laptop screen makes spotting next to impossible. By the way, when you dropped your bombs I was on your six in firing position, but then I lost you against the dark ground. Took me long minutes to catch up. Anyhow, that was a thrilling sortie. S!

I hear you...but I like your idea. MW50 on the rear bases. Today I caught a 109 at low level in a Mustang. He tried to get away below treetop level, but I was gaining on him. Then he tried to turnfight, but I could outturn him. Then he went to the vertical which almost worked, but I was on his 6 again. He had no chance, even though he was probably the better pilot. That's why I feel it's quite imbalanced ATM.

That sounds more like you think the Mustang should be removed. . . . :smilewink:

All human spawn-able FW190 A8 aircraft will now spawn without the centre pylon attached.

This means you should no longer need to request its removal prior to flight, if you want a clean aircraft without the extra drag.

Testing by players has shown that the pylon does slow the Anton down.

Yes. Between 15 and 20km/h.

And Phil, here's our dogfight from my perspective

And the whole clip

EDIT: The thrill in the K4 without MW50 is higher imho. But it would be better if ED released a G14 or late G6, added increased boost for Anton and then it would be better for the Normandy timeframe.

Yes they both are.

A20s conduct level bombing daylight raids as well as some smaller low level tactical attacks. In the early morning missions there might also be the odd RAF night bombing mission returning home as the sun is coming up.

JU88s conduct torpedo attacks against allied shipping. Sporadic, few in number and small in size.

Both the A20 and the JU88s might also be spotted now and then conducting solo flights (recon etc.)

Have updated the afternoon/ evening missions on the server. At about 2010 hours (in mission time) just as it is starting to get dark, a number of searchlights will now activate at the main population centres in France (Le Havre, Cherbourg, Caen and St. Lo).

If you happen to be flying during the last 20 minutes of these missions the lights should now blink on as it gets dark.

Normally people depart the server as missions close, so this is a little treat for the few who stick it out to the end

In the midst of battle, you sometimes get awestruck by the beauty of what you are experiencing, before the radio of your wingman snaps you back into focus. Here EAF602_Puff and I are tangled with four 109s; a battle that started at the top of the world and ended at the top of the waves.

Change details:

Added more ships on all missions, to allow for more anti-shipping strikes

Re-enacting history, flying on a historical server in an authentic environment and together with like minded enthusiasts, is a powerful experience and gives me a sensation unlike any other type of game. This experience shown here is from the Storm of War server.

It is easy to think of this as only a game. To me it is a chance to get a closer understanding and deeper appreciation of all those who did this for real. Each one made their fateful decision to make a difference, stood up, fought, struggled and sacrificed for what they believed in and for their close ones. They all have my deepest admiration.

Here is a tribute to some of them, remembering the Bomber Boys.

Footage of Spitfires escorting B-17s over France together with Ateball and protecting them from high altitude fighters together with EAF602_Puff. Combined with my own footage of B-17 Sally B of Duxford, during Flying Legends 2019.

During the ongoing high altitude battle, I got awestruck by the beauty of what I was experiencing, before the radio of my wingman snapped me back into focus. EAF602_Puff and I tangled with 4 109s; a battle that started at the top of the world and ended at the top of the waves.

Hey guys, I've just started getting familiar with some of my WWII modules and ended up in the SOW server thanks to Philstyles wonderful videos but I did notice something. When in the server my buttkicker with simshaker for aviators does not work. The only other server that also does this is the Just Dogfight server so I'm guessing it's something to do with the setup of the server. While it may sound like a minor issue, I do find products like the buttkicker give a very important feel to flying which is even more important in warbirds. Any ideas what the issue might be? Loving the SOW server btw.

I have no idea whatsoever which setting might be causing this.

Maybe ask around in the multiplayer bug forums?

It is possibly a server-side setting, I just wouldn't have a clue which . . .
