Russian PRMG & ILS Landings

Recommended Posts

In this video series I discuss my confusion with the PRMG ILS systems, and why it does not function at most airports.

Seems not to be working for some reason. YT spins and spins and finally says it doesn't seem to be available. Oddly, if I scroll along the timeline, I can see what's supposed to be playing but the video window remains black. Same thing occurs if I try to view it on the YT website.

Thank you Ironhand, I didn't take time this morning to test run it.

Don't know what happened, but I re-uploaded the video, and updated the above link.

Seams to be working now.

It does, indeed, work now. Thanks for posting it. Looking forward to Part 2.

I usually follow the flight director circle down to outer marker and then, depending on visibility, start adjusting for the runway threshold. I think with the situation you had in this video, following the ADI indicators/flight director all the way down without the outside reference would set you down more or less about half-way down the runway.

Not positive about this but I think that, in the sim, the bases/airports without the ILS indications on the map are the ones that are PRMG. Conversely, those with the ILS map indications can be used with NATO aircraft for ILS.

FWIW, after checking into this, it's the runways with ILS specifics lettered in blue that are PRMG. They have high MHZ numbers and, also, channel numbers. FM? The NATO ILS are lettered in white and have no channel numbers.

Yes, RSBN and PRMG are blue fonts on the map. 1.5 has only 4 airports with PRMG, I believe. Most don't work well with the L-39.

Yes, a total of 6 runways have the system: Krymsk 04 & 22, Krasnodar-Center 08, Maykop-Khanskaya 04 and Mozdok 08 & 26 according to the ME map. I know Maykop will be wind dependent because, by default, you land on RWY 22 unless weather dictates otherwise. K-C might be the same but I haven't checked.
