Hello Friends,

since I bought myself a pair of TM Cougars recentl, because i followed this project with great interest, I want to do this Mod myself. This is such a nice work that it inspired me.

It is 2018 now and I am facing some problems:

1. I cannot find a fitting LCD screen because all the suppliers linked in the thread are sold out or not longer available

2. I cant figure out how i am supposed to export the ingame mfd screen onto the external mfd monitors.

Thanks for your help.

If you don't want to use Lilliput monitors, you have to find LCDs on Alibaba's of the word. Or ebay.

As for exporting MFDs, see my post here:

In the FA18 thread, you'll see the fix needed to get it going. I don't have the thread handy, but you'll see it on the first page.

Here you go. I used this guy and got my order in less than a week. I am in the PNW in the US. This is the screen I went with. 4:3 ratio and 7inch. Is a better fit than the 8inch 16:10 or wider ratio ones that stick out the sides a ton. These are as close to a perfect fit as you can get.

Pics of them from my album of junk showing the 3d printed enclosure I designed for them. They were designed to mount on articulating arms so they can be variable position. I actually never took finalized pics of the build due to VR adoption. However I do use the MFD's on the arms still, just have no need for the functional screens now.

Thanks for the input. You're right. The screens fit really nice without sticking out on the side too much, or creating a gap in the display area.

I will have to see if i can get a hold of these babies. I am based in Germany.

Oh and, nice work creating the mfds!

That 8 inch display seems to be perfect, or nearly. I did some drawings and calculations. obviously the screen would stick out only about 15 mm on each side. For 70 euro it seems a bit pricey but i think I just have to invest that.

Can you tell me if i just have to plug in the hdmi and it will get a signal

MFD cost increase?

Has anyone noticed that TM Cougar MFDs are now selling for $130 at Amazon and other online flight sim stores.

A buddy and I are wanting to split the pair so we each have three MFD's for the F18. Luckily, I was able to purchase a set from a real world aviation store MYPILOTSHOP.COM for $75 + shipping.

Hey I used to fly out of Rocky Mountain Metro, always fun when the weather was circling Denver. Happy flying!

I use these monitors from AliExpress:

The mounting flanges on the left and right can be removed. I got them because I wanted something with VESA holes and buttons that aren't on the front. With monitors that have buttons on the front, the MFD can interfere with them. The metal enclosure is nice too because it makes the front bezel very thin, putting the MFD's closer to the actual LCD screen itself. The screens are also IPS and have good viewing angles.

There's two downsides though. The two monitors I got use different LCD panels despite being the same model from the same seller, so they're not 100% color matched. The displays only have brightness and contrast adjustment but no fine color tuning, so even with a hardware color calibrator, I can only get them to look close, but not match 100%.

The second is that the monitors don't go to sleep when the computer is turned off, and have to be powered off manually. There's a sleep setting, but the minimum time is 15 minutes, and this is reset back to "never" whenever you turn off the monitor. This is not really that big of a deal, as I just turn them on and off whenever I want to use them.

Combine the displays with a 90-degree VESA mount like this one:

And you got a pretty good adjustable desk stand.

That is one nice setup. I am wondering what kind of input device that is, over your stream deck device?

Edit: typo

Looks like a Real Simulator module from Falcon 4 times. Expensive stuff. A friend of mine got one and I think he cant´make it work under Win10. Up to Win7 is ok.
