Seeing all the replies I’m sure you’ve got your answer. Just wanted to add that there’s an infinite medevac user mission file for the Huey in the files section of dcs world website. I recommend the Persian gulf variation for more challenging landings.

Flying that mission while listening to music for hours has been some of the most relaxing flight sim experience ever.

oh great. Can you link to the mission?
I'm playing through the campaign at the moment and starting to get a hang of the landings

Just did my first campaign mission for the Huey. Wasn't expecting such a long mission... Took me almost 90 min but used those 90 min to practice trimming the Huey. At the end she could fly almost by herself with me just a very gentle touch of the joystick

The KA looks great as well. Could also be a nice step stone to the jets as the weapons and systems of the KA are more complex than on the Huey and probably resembles more the complexity of the modern jets.
The Blackshark is a monster. Tons of firepower.. the helmet mounted sight is cool with trackIR, but really shines with VR. It's something else to just look at your target and start unloading cannon rounds on it or to quickly lock it up for a Vikhr.

The KA-50 is pretty big on it's auto pilot and trim functions.

The KA looks amazing but one thing that will hold me back is that the cockpit is russian and I can't understand that... This means learning everything by heart.... Even now in the Huey, I rely a lot on what is printed in the cockpit...

There's an English version cockpit too, if I'm not mistaken. Accessible via Special Options.

"Through the Inferno" missions also have a huge amount of helicopter work implemented. The CTLD script provides lot's of transportation and logistics options (sling loads). With a Mi-8 you can drop 23 man squads into battle and command them afterwards with the Combined Arms module, or just drop a mortar squad at safe range from the AO? Build a FOB? Plenty of options and fun...

IMO the biggest problem in flying helicopters with HOTAS is that the throttle of the HOTAS doesn’t give the feel of a collective. You can use it vertically by screwing it to some wooden board like I do when flying rotary wings (I had threaded holes in the throttle originally: I haven’t drilled them) or you could just velcro it somewhere. It won’t be as good as a collective lever bit it will improve the simulation.
