No it isn't sniper.

Still an epic fail on that price though.

Nvidia RTX3080 (HP Reverb), AMD 3800x

Asus Prime X570P, 64GB G-Skill RipJaw 3600

Saitek X-65F and Fanatec Club-Sport Pedals (Using VJoy and Gremlin to remap Throttle and Clutch into a Rudder axis)

Steamvr implementation with dcs world is not good compared to ha ing full support of the Rift software. Plus steam Vr does not have ASW weather it's the vive or WMR HMD. Which you will need with the 78 percent pixel increase aka same as Samsung Odyssey. Looks great but runs like crap with DCS world.

Way too much for a small increase in resolution only.

Especially for those that do not already have the base station and would need to purchase everything.

Honestly, I find their launch pricing to be seriously laughable. Gen 2 pricing (or even higher?) for Gen 1.5 hardware. Great strategy (/s) and a surefire way to fall flat on their faces.

Hold tight and prices will fall quickly, at least I would imagine so at HTC realizes they need to start chasing profit to break even.

Anyone here going to pull the trigger on this? Don't be shy, speak up :)

I'm REALLY interested in what it's like with DCS. If it makes the cockpit gauges and text a lot more readable, and allows visual acuity of more distant aircraft, I'll buy one.

Nope I already have a rift with two sensors. I'll pay $800 for the next Nvidia Ti model. But not just for the hmd. Looks like I'll wait for the v2 oculus or the LG hmd when that ever comes out.

Holding out to see what Oculus brings us next, my CV1 still running great.

I am a patient man though...

$1330 USD for the new Vive with the sensors and remote thing. Ridiculous. I bought the Vive when it first came out too, $1250 CAD, and it worked like crap compared to the Rift for cockpit/desktop games. I'll pass.

Oh I agree. But if it offers significant improvement with DCS people will buy it :)
Assuming you also have the 1080ti or 2 of them to run everything at the highest settings. Although dcs wouldn't benefit much from dual gpu's.

This is something people would need to see in order to spend the money though. If you already have a rift with a nice gaming rig it would be hard to spend that kind of money without seeing the improvement first. Obviously from monitor screens to VR it's 100% improvement but the latter is harder to say.

HTC is also not banking on just people who play dcs to buy this hmd. Most VR users don't fly like we do or are into such a hobby so I think it's dumb for them to release the headset at this price when the normal games aren't even that good.

Honestly I have lone echo and a few other games but dcs is what I use my rift for 100% of the time. Lone echo is great but makes me motion sick.

I'm using a 1080ti, 32gb ram, i8700k and 1.5 super sampling on my oculus at mostly high settings. Getting close to 70-90fps with asw on so it never goes below 45. Lately with the last update I notice worse performance if deferred shading is off. You can definitely run high settings with one 1080ti as long as you wouldn't need super sampling to be higher with better hmd lenses if they improve visuals as they should.

I would love to pull the trigger, but how can I, when they charge hundreds more for their ridiculous base stations? Sorry, bring the system price down or not happening. If it was 800 USD with the base stations, I would do it.

This, 100%.
