Cold War 1947 - 1991

The F-14 although called a Generation 3.5 aircraft by it's own pilots is still far too OPd for a cold war scenario. It could just engage it greatest distances and with the Phoenix and if jumped on, it'll just outrun anything that's there. The Mig-23 is still ok, but not the F-14 (although I love the plane)

Planes: FC3, P-51, F-86, F-5E, Mirage 2000, F/A-18, F-14, F-16, Mig-19P :joystick:

ED pls gib A-4 and F-4

Also would other maps also be used? Like PG map, or the future Syrian map? And if these maps are used, would more realistic scenarios using assets and factions of the area be made?

Operation: Crimea Unleashed

Situation:

Red Bases: Maykop-Khanskaya and FARP Otkrytka
Blue Bases: Anapa (once Krymsk is captured you get more helicopters)

The fight over vital raw materials in the western parts of the Caucasus has been unleashed. The key to obtaining total reign in the area is to capture and hold the following five vital airbases:

- Krasnodar-P
- Krasnodar-C
- Krymsk
- Novorossiysk
- Gelendzhik

Mi-8's and UH-1's can deploy and unpack crates to capture the airbases (see objectives).

* Winner is he who captures and holds all 5 airbases *

NOTE:
Teamwork is the key! Use SRS and get on comms.

briefing image.png

RED Objectives:

MiG's, L-39's:

- Hold position around the bullseye and engage any bandits crossing your way.
- Stay west of where our strikers are attacking and intercept incoming enemy fighters.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Su-25's, Ka-50's, Mi-24's:

*** Mainly required if the enemy has captured at least 1 airbase ***

Waypoint-1 (ABRIS waypoint-2): Krasnodar P
Waypoint-2 (ABRIS waypoint-3): Krasnodar C
Waypoint-3 (ABRIS waypoint-4): Krymsk
Waypoint-4 (ABRIS waypoint-5): Novorossiysk
Waypoint-5 (ABRIS waypoint-6): Gelendzhik
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mi-8's:

Deploy ground units at neutral airbases to capture and hold these. Make sure you get on comms and contact the GCI operator (if available) and see what ground units are needed the most and where.

Mi-8's -> Picking up crates:
Bring up your radio menu, select F10 for CTLD and then whatever type of crates you want to pick up.

*** You can only pick up one crate at a time ***

For picking up a crate, maintain hover over it for 5 seconds while keeping an altitude of at least 7.5 meters and a maximum altitude of 15 meters.

To unpack a crate, make sure you're at least 3 km away from the FARP/airbase you started at.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Combined Arms:

The 2 cmdr slots are for players controlling ground units while being on SRS with each other and other players to coordinate their attacks.
You MUST be on SRS as a cmdr operator!
The JTAC slots are mainly for players who want to check out the situation quickly, provide GCI for a group of people or preferably everyone. In addition, you can use the JTAC slot to drive a ground unit. However, the latter requires you being on comms with cmdr operators to avoid confusion and/or causing problems to their attacks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frequencies:

EWR / GCI: 124 MHz, channel 0 for MiG-21 and L-39, channel 2 for MiG-19, channel 18 for Mi-24's R-863
EWR-MiG-15 (callsign: 15): 4.95 MHz (tuned in by default)

Jadro 1 for Mi-24's and Mi-8's: 035500 KHz
R-828 channel 2 for Mi-24's, Mi-8's and Ka-50's: 25.7 MHz

FARP Kalitka: 122.5 KHz - R-863 Channel 0 for Mi-24's

allright i give up on the f14 on cold war ;)

nevertheless i am looking forward for the mig23, and i really hope it will come this year.

the problem i see with different maps is that often people don't (want to) buy them.

so the caucasus is a good base map for all operations in dcs .. you have nearly every terrain situation there.

but for me - i would be glad to see some variation .. as long as every player will have these maps.

btw: is there a way to ask the AI awacs for the _closest_ target?

since no human gci was online yesterday i was running circles following targets given by awacs, but not finding them ... ending in being shot down (maybe i am blind ...)

Just to be clear, ramming people on the ground is against the rules, right?

Not officialy a rule. You "could" do it... But if they ask you not to, then respect that, please

Well, that's something different then. I was talking about enemies strafing you on the ground. That is ok. On the other hand, teamkilling results in banning. Let me know when I'm on the server.

Should I bring back the dynamic mission some time soon? It's just BlueFlag, where you need to capture airbases and FARP's using helicopters to drop troops for that purpose. Helis can also deploy a good number of different ground vehicles as well. The mission would restart every 6 hours and all data will be saved, until a coalition has all airbases and FARP's.

Let me know, yes or no.
