Ahhhh damn. I didn't need to hear that! :)

Question for you. Did you disable HyperThreading in process Lasso? And you just let it run w/o moving DCS to any core, for example? Could you tell us how you deployed Process Lasso?

I tried pinning DCS to two physical core and didn't see much difference in VR FPS. So I'm curious how you went about it. thanks!

Even worse than that, it's Intel, you also need a new board :(

If they had at least altered the socket to accommodate more cores and juice that would be somehow justified, but they didn't. They squeeze 150% load through the same 1151 connectors.

AMD get going, you got the cores, now give us the SPEEEEEED we NEEEEEED.

AMD Ryzen-2, 5GHz, 8+ cores, !!!!SAME SOCKET!!!! <-------THIS is what drives me nuts

Yup, that's the one! Have you checked the German Amazon site? Maybe it's cheaper? Unless you don't use Amazon, that is.

ok, trying to change the order to Asus Prime, no new Case but VR...will report back if it's possible.

BTW, the CPU came in, only waiting on that board, which I hope to be able to cancel.

Bit goes VR, can't believe it !

Your gonna love VR. Please provide plenty feedback on the new board :)

I hope I don't get motion sickness with VR, if that turns out to be true the kids will love it !

Apropos kids, can you watch the game on the 27" screen as well if I wear the goggles ?

We often play Dirt series and watch each other driving. It would be nice if one could were the Rift and the others could still watch what happens, even if that will be a "downgraded" experience.

Any recommendations for VR at all ? I have many questions tbh, aka positioning of those receivers/transmitters, how am I going to wear a headset or do I need that Occulus Audio Band if I want to have earphones instead of Desktop speakers ( some very very lousy ones, 5€ stuff LoL ).

Looks like I am going to rebuild 3 PC's this saturday, mine and my sons, my pal's next door new PC for his kid, he bought an 1600X/Asus Prime combo as we thought that is the best deal for general gaming these days, he's gonna get my son's 750GTX-Ti and one of my drives plus a case to save some bucks... lets see if time allows for a ride in VR then. I may hook it up to my old system before I rip it apart and compare 7700k vs. 8700k.

Time is a real issue, 3 kids under 6 makes you turn in circles and go nuts every other hour LoL.

The older ones tend to stare at screens and only react if I kill WLAN,,,modern days...:cry:

if you do get motion sickness, it might be only temporary, when i first got the oculus rift, i'd start feeling sick after about 20 minutes, worst game was quake 2 VR, but after a while i could play for 2 hours no problem...

as it is, i find VR sets too uncomfortable to wear much longer than 2 hours anyway... but i don't get motion sickness in anything at all anymore.

There will be a one eye view on the monitor - not very impressive. You can mirror the display but at a cost to performance, I have never really used it.

The Rift setup does a good job of walking you through the sensor setup. I have my two sensors on my desk, tilted up slightly and inward slightly toward me. Setup will let you know if your configuration will have problems with how you place them.

The Rift comes with great over the ear headphones, they do a good job. You can select Rift audio, or desktop audio. Mic works great as well ( I use with Voice Attack).

Definitely give Robo Recall a try , great Touch game and is free with the activation of your Touch controllers. And yes, when you set up your Rift definitely set up Touch as well, it will walk you through setting up both sensors. And trust me, once you try them your gonna like them.

Take your time going through all the steps of setup, along with the last part which is a demo of the Lab, and is great fun! Overall setup process will take you around 45 min or so. Do not skimp on it.

Motion sickness - yes likely for the first few days, just take breaks when it happens. Eventually you will get acclimated to it and not have a problem, took me about 2 weeks.

You'll have motion sickness for sure ! till (2-3 days) your brain understand that seeing loopings and divings and not feeling the forces is normal with rift ! (Beware ! Dirt rally is the worst first experience possible relating to motion sickness : try it later IMO lol ! hitting left or right and spinning with rally car makes your brain immediately vomitting cause it anticipates violent forces not coming).

I hope you don't have short range vision issue, rift + glasses is not ideal.

On screen copy of rift view (left eye or both for some games) is always displayed.

All things for setting the rift are well explained - beware with rift default audio headsets : if you have audio cuts (stop working) it was related for me and some to usb devices connected to front usb ports of computer case - in this case (with DCS I use all my usb ports) you should use a different audio headset plugged in computer audio output - you can easily dismount rift's audio headset.

I understand the sickness issue and hope you are right, couple hours/days and all good.

For flying in DCS the Jetseat is huge in helping to add another sensory input and so reduce motion sickness. It was my biggest fear TBH but my first night I was slaloming the huey around power pylons without ill effects.

Alt enter will fill your desktop so stretches the left eye view to fill the screen. Or you can stream to another PC so the kids can watch. Oh and to avoid kids under 3 keep your pants on in future ;)

Jetseat, Cibit !

waahaaa, yet another gadget to be looking forward to. Indeed, it makes sense in relation to motion sickness. I will have a look, but tell you right away, Kitchen Command allows no other

purchases this year and long into next year.

If you experience motion sickness (while getting used to it), having some ginger really helps. And I really liked the Apollo Landing. You get to sit in the Eagle module etc. Very very cool. And there are a a bunch of free driving sim games. It's *SSSSOOOOOO* much easier to drive when you have VR.

And in the INPUT thread, there is a VR sub-thread. There is a sticky thread "All things VR". Jabber (I think) created a video on the setup that works well. Also how he creates recordings for posting on YouTube's of the world.

Enjoy.

I have ginger among my spices in many variants, love it actually.

If that helps, I'll have some.

Good to know where to look, thanks Hansangb ! I will definitely read & watch that.

Tell ya, the older kids are really excited:"Daaaaad, you're so cool!xxx" I am happy there's a bunch of games included for every age from like 6 onward, too young = too small skull I guess.

..and yeah, I became far sighted (?). Need to see if I need my glasses, and which one, got 2.

Glasses are still new to me, but anything closer than just about arm length became zzzZZZyyy to read. I hope that works out too.

If the glasses don't fit, you can just google for "VR Rift lens" and you'll get a few hits. I ordered my inserts from vr-lens-lab.com. But if you're sharing the HMD, it's probably better to make sure a) your own glasses fit b) order the goggles from vr-lens-lab.

Enjoy.

I will take a bit to get your VR legs, I had to stop many times before getting to ill, flying in VR definitely takes more time to get use to.

I ended up getting a cruisy game from the store and got assetto corsa on steam, which I believed helped me get my VR legs, I could drive much longer at the start and the rift was siting on 90fps on very high settings with my 1070.

Wait until you crash fly in DCS the first few times LOL, don't flinch to much....
