Im not a pc savy but i hear 4k is not the way to go and it might be to much for your card...My suggestion would be a 144 hrz 24" with gsync..Dont bother with freesync its for amd cards

I used 3x 23" 1080p monitors and I only play DCS. I was recently researching to upgrade to g-sync but I could not justify paying that much money for a monitor. G-Sync monitor prices are ridiculous so I decided to go the VR route. I was also looking at that same Asus 32" but reviews said it wasn't a good monitor for gaming. I did see it in person and it was nice lookng.

Small threadkidnapping but I was wondering how DCS handles ultrawide ? I've decided to upgrade my 24" 60 hz IPS panel with 35" 100hz ultrawide 1440p beast and in a few titles I've bothered to check it seems they all nicely work in ultrawide. How is DCS in that regard ?

Just fine as long as your video card is up to the task.

I went from a 27" 1920 x 1200 dell screen to a

ASUS ROG Swift Curved PG348Q Gaming Monitor - 34" 21:9 Ultra-wide QHD (3440x1440)

It was a great upgrade , the Gsync helps deal with varying frame rates really well

DCS looks epic in ultra wide

You can still get the rift+touch bundle on sale, from amazon.ca:

https://www.amazon.ca/Oculus-Rift-Touch-Bundle/dp/B01LYCUM3L/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501692261&sr=8-1&keywords=rift

I already had the rift but got the touch controllers. As for saying you'll never use them, don't knock it till you try it. I didn't think I'd care for it, but it's really very fun and quite amazing.

There's an X series (X Rebirth I think) space simulator converted to use the touch controllers and it's really amazing how easy and intuitive it is to control a space-craft with the touch controllers. (I'd never use them for a real-world aircraft, but I play all genres of games & sims)

Ultrawide works very well with DCS as well.

Cheers,

Mack

Gsync, that really matters, the rest is personal, like size and ratio.

I would not give up Gsync and I personally wont move to VR until it has reached the same state of smoothness and clarity

So, it turns out that UW monitor I was looking for might not be coming for quite a while, I've been waiting for it for over a month and frequently contacting local sellers but found no success and was told recently that its unknown when that unit will be in stock.

I'm simply tired of waiting and other UW monitors of such or similar spec cost significantly higher, too high for me.

So the thing I've started considering is upgrade to either a 27" 1440p or 27" 4k or 32" 4k panel, mostly acer, asus and aoc constructions. Only with G-sync. Now choice of monitor is a very personal one since we all have different eyes and we differently respond to various subtle differences, still I'd like to hear any opinion whether should I pursue first, second or third option. Would I spot differences in 4k vs 1440p in DCS ? Would it be worth going from 27" to 32" ?

I thing 1440p is made for 27". DPI is nice and 4k may not show that much difference.

At 32" I'd say ( I only have 27" 1440p ) that the DPI with 1440p might be too low and 4k makes sense, for the price of fps.

For now the sweetspot imho is 27" 1440p if you want some balance between FPS and DPI.

So far I'm only running 4k DSR on my 23.8" IPS panel and DCS looks quite good, so I'm simply wondering what to expect from a 27" 1440p or even larger 4k panels in regard of game looks. In terms of raw size 27" doesnt feel that much bigger to be fair, but its not the only thing that matters. And high refresh rates could also be handy.

I'm torn :(

I suppose having a gsync monitor has spoiled me

When I bought my Gsync I honestly didnt know much about it and also didnt ask anybody how good that feature is, I just wanted a 1440p and 27" with good data sheet. When I hooked it up and saw what Gsync really is I was more than astound, I was fascinated and blown away.

You have to experience it to understand it. It somehow cannot be put in words alone.

Of my two gaming rigs, one has a 144Hz Gsync monitor. I love it. My sim rig would have one but I like my 40" 4k monitor too much.

I would add though that G-sync is good to have only if your FPS is beyond those 144 FPS.

But yes 144Hz/27"/1440/G-sync is the best option. I (my son actually) have one... using it and extremely pleased.

It is extremely good at 50-60fps over Vegas with my 980GTX !

I am not so sure it would still feel that fluent with the same low fps on a non-gsync monitor.

It starts to stutter when I force the fps below 25fps, I tried that out, down to like 30-25 fps it really makes a difference. Still, 35fps even on Gsync will be what they are, 35 fps only. It's no magic, just a clever way of syncing but no booster.
