how to change the Aircraft Control Priority

Recommended Posts

You have a special tab in the mission editor, where you can set the priority of aircraft control.

There are:

+ student priority

+ instructor priority

+ ask always (if wish to take over control, you have to sent a request to the current pilot of the aircraft, look in the options for "request aircraft control")

+ equal (both can take over control, like in real life)

But after the latest patch, nothing works for me and a friend. We also have assigned a key to the "request" input option, but no "request" windows opens.

kind regards,

Fire

We dont know how to pass the control to each other...

In settings set Request Aircraft Control to joystick button (it is unbound by default)

attachment.php?attachmentid=135322&stc=1&d=1456173776

  • The 'pilot' spawns in first and once in game the 'instructor' joins the same aircraft (from the server's 'spectators' list).
  • The 'pilot' gets a pop up dialog listing players requesting to join his aircraft - and clicks on the player he wants to allow to join and clicks ACCEPT (or cancels the dialog).
  • The 2nd player joins as the instructor in the rear seat.
  • The 'instructor' can then request control by pressing the assigned button for 'Request Aircraft Control'
  • A 'Accept Request' dialog will pop up, giving the controlling player the option to refuse
  • ONLY the 'controlling' player's joystick - controls the L-39 flight stick, etc. but it's movement is seen by both players.
  • The 'Pilot' can 'Request Aircraft Control' back using his assigned button (provided the instructor accepts).
  • In 1.5.3 the instructor always has priority, if requested (ME isn't saving changes to the setting) but eventually it give pilot decides, instructor decides or always accept control request'.

Tested in 1.5.3 in the L-39C and L-39ZA

Is this already reported as a bug?

  • 3 years later...
Are these instructions for multi-crew still applicable?

Yes, though in 2.5.4 "Request Aircraft Control" now has a default keybind "J", so there's no need to bind the control request to a joystick button (unless wanted).

Note: The 1.5.3 bug with the ME not saving changes to Control Priority is fixed in 2.5.4

Confirm ME bug is fixed in Open Beta 2.5.4.30038

  • 3 weeks later...

I find it works consistently as long as you follow the steps given above, and you have zero airspeed on the ground and both let go of the sticks before you hit the transfer. Any attempt to transfer at even so much as taxi speed and you lose critical parts. If you don't see the engine RPM spool up and hear the start in the back, forget about it, you got in bugged.
