[REPORTED] Artillery set target multiplayer bug

Recommended Posts

artillery that has spawned after the client has joined the server will not allow you to set a target. The client has to reconnect in order to be able to set a target for artillery units.

Steps to reproduce: client joins a server, spawn in an arty unit, client attempts to set a target.

I'll need more info, I did a quick test and had no issue activating by the comms menu.

Try from the tactical commander slot F10 map. If an artillery unit is spawned in while you are already in the server, you must rejoin to set the target using the "add target" function. If you try to do this before rejoining, you can click "add target," but you cannot actually select a target.

Yes, I did that, but no issue here. How is the activation done? I did mine as late activation and activated the group by radio command.

Usually I do triggers to activate units (i.e what you said). I place the unit in the mission editor, do a late activation, then set a trigger.

In this case, however, I believe the multiplayer server spawns the unit and it isn't technically "on the map" until a player action occurs. For example, some servers allow you to sling units, which the server creates when the conditions for that unit are met.

If you can find out exactly how its done I can see if I can replicate and report. Otherwise it is working fine by normal means. It could be a bug in the scripting engine, but again, unless I know exactly how its done there isnt much I can do.

no problem, here you go

1. set-up dedicated server to load the attached mission (on a different PC from client)

2. start dedicated server

3. On a different PC load up DCS and then connect to server

4. Once joined select the red game master slot

5. wait until red arty units spawn at Kobuleti airfield (40 seconds)

6. Select one of the arty units and try to target and fire on the blue vechs west of kobuleti airfield

Notes: This will work in Single player, but not multi player due to the arty units being spawned in via the DCS scripting engine,

this has not worked in a long time (if ever - best of my knowledge)
