Nodak
Why? Requesting permission for engine start is certainly the norm for busy civil airports, but not so much for military. At least as far as I'm aware. :music_whistling: It is the norm, you don't start without notification. But when dealing with officers, their daycare staff usually do it for them. Nooch
Not neccessary to ask for 2nd round of air using these steps after startup of right engine: Crank left engine Advance right throttle to ~85% Push left throttle out of idle Watch left engine spooling up Proceed with startup as ususal Bleed Air should be turned, but it works without it. Bug? It's not a bug. This is called a crossbleed start. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
bbrz
It's not a bug. This is called a crossbleed start. Since RightStuff only wrote; bleed air should be turned, it was difficult to tell if he meant on or off. Bleed air must be off for external air starts. Crossbleed starts usually need a separate/additional clearance due to the required high thrust and hence jet blast. 80% RPM is enough btw. i7-7700K 4.2GHz, 16GB, GTX 1070
Flamin_Squirrel
"Bleed air must be turned" may also refer to cycling the knob to open the bleed air shut off valves. They will be closed if you've run a fire detection check. If you've not done this, the bleed air shut off valves will be open, so it may seem as if the bleed air cycling has no purpose.
