VR Shaders mod for better VR experience

Recommended Posts

You should always use ovgme/jgsme/modmanfx to apply mods & uninstall, especially if there have been other mods there first...

I would do a repair, and then apply one of the mods via one of the tools above, I use modmanfx.

No, sorry, I have seen something similar in the spit, I think it might be either the base mod, or the game a lot changed in lighting in the latest release.

If it is the base mod, my guess it will be the transparent textures change, Male sure that’s set to 0.

Where would I find that to check for 0 value?

that's the only thing think that might have been causing it... that is "user serviceable"

I use ovgme and modmanfx, so you should be able to make it jgsme compatible if its not with trivial effort

right, i'm ready to give the shader mod another go.

however, in the readme it doesn't mention to delete the metacache folder in the maps anymore..

is this not needed anymore?

@speed-of-heat

where can i find your mod versions (with clear water and the IC pass one)?

as has been said the F-14 issue is not to do with the MoD but the beta, i dont have the p47, and your screenshot doesnt show me anything that i can see as a bug ? but i dont know what its meant to look like "before" or "after"

I just tried to your IC-compliant version and the P47 cockpit textures look normal. However, if I switch back to the original version of the mod the textures go wonky again.

You may need to delete fxo and metashaders2 from your saved games directory... to cleanup the created shaders

Hey all, I have followed the process to the line, deleted all FXO and Metashaders2, I am using OVGME to run the Mod and get the nice round image on my monitor as it should be to show the mod has been installed via OVGME. I then jump into a MP server in VR and select an aircraft and as soon as it launches in game, I am sitting in a cockpit with only the outline of the cockpit. All the graphics have disappeared, outside is fine but I cannot see any of the cockpit or aircraft. I have noticed all AI aircraft are also not visible. Their con trails are but the actual airframe is not. Any ideas on what is causing this? I have done a repair etc but it is still doing it.

I get this sometimes , though very rarely in single player, usually just waiting resolves it, or reloading into the mission.

@speed-of-heat

Well, I tried your IC pass mod and all of your settings, since I have the same system specs as you do.

And the performance increase is VERY noticeable compared to what I had before while the graphics are still more than decent.

Thank you very much for figuring this out.

This is the sweet spot for me until ED improves VR performance.

"Very noticeable" means how many fps ?

I gained a 50% increase in performance using this mod with the proper settings. Your mileage will vary.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Maybe it's that I don't have the Steam version of DCS World? I don't get why that would matter aside from not having to worry about IC checks(I think?). But I CANNOT get these shaders to work for me. I have tried 3 very frustrating times now to no avail:

The first time I made a couple of mistakes so that one was on me.

The second time I know I performed the procedure correctly according to a couple of YouTube videos, Reddit posts, this thread, and the surprisingly vague Read Me file included with each Zip archive I downloaded from Kegetys. Still, I sat for 30 minutes staring at a loading bar that never moved (yes, I am aware rebuilding the shader caches takes time). So I uninstalled everything and restored the backup folders.

Finally, yesterday, I decided to give it a try with JSGME. I believe I setup JSGME correctly. But I don't see where it is actually installing mods and have not messed with it further since I tried to install the shader mod with it AGAIN. Still....still not working. I also viewed the debug window and saw something to the effect of "can't find shaders/cache" or "Direct X11 blah blah".

This is pretty disappointing. I have a rocket ship of a gaming PC (Ryzen 3900X, 32GB 3600MHz memory, EVGA 2080 Ti Black, 2x Sabrent Rocket PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives, etc.) and I still get frame drops like nobody's business with this game. It is an incredibly inefficient engine. But with the comments I've seen about the improvements these shaders can bring, I would definitely like to see if that gets me where I want to be in VR.

Does anyone have any suggestions and/or advice on the matter?

For the record, here are the guides I have used(aside from this thread and the OP):

@speed-of-heat Help me out, my man! Are their common mistakes that people make that maybe I'm overlooking? I haven't tried your version of the shaders yet. But not too antsy to try again either. To make sure I eliminated possible variables/mistakes, I just copied all of the folders and saved them as ".old", copied all of the new shader files into the "shaders" folder, replaced existing files with new (kegetys), deleted metacache and fxo data from my saved games directly, and then started up DCS. Just not working.

I have the NON-Steam, standalone version of DCS World.
